The Eleventh Commandment

P.G. Wodehouse, one of Britain's most successful and prolific writers once sighed "The plot, ah, the plot", recognising it as the greatest hurdle facing an author. Archer is no Wodehouse, but he is the over-arching, archetypal architect of the plot. His quiver is full of arrows which never miss. Despite being a former member of two very well known British establishments, this is another story set in the USA where Archer clearly feels at home even when, once again, one of his main characters is the President himself. He roams the globe with much action taking place in Russia (note the acknowledgement at the beginning of the book for the help received from members of the Russian Mafya). Archer appears to admire strong women (Mary's influence?)and casts as his arch-villain one of the most powerful women in the world. The dénouement is as brilliant as ever.

A good story of betrayal and revenge that leaves you salivating that the bad guy gets his just desserts in the nicest possible way.A story that shows how the good guy gets left " out to dry " and with a few twists and turns gets the upper hand and revenge. This is a good enjoyable story,that;'s worth a second read.
