Works just fine. Magnet is a plus. Code/Reset Instructions below.
This small case works perfectly for me, wanting to keep a spare key just in case I get locked out. The magnet makes it so I can put it in a creative place instead of trying to hide a key in the garden or under a fake rock etc.It is small inside, and the foam is affixed. I suppose you could forcibly tear all the foam out if you didn't want it. It's not large - I keep just one regular house key in it, with a loop of string/twine through the key so that it doesn't get lost down in the foam. It's not super tough. If a person wanted to break it, they could. But for me the lock is just an added layer of security, the main one being that I keep it hidden. It's easy to set the code. I recently reset it, and here are the instructions from the Kidde site:Selecting (or resetting) Your CombinationThe AccessPoint™ Stor-A-Key™ comes with a factory preset combination of 000.1. Slide open the dirt-guard cover to reveal the combination lock. Caution: Key container must be closedto change combination.2. Set the numbered dials to 000 so that they are aligned with the combination line.3. Rotate the Reset dial 90 degrees so that the “RESET” text is lined up with the combination line.4. Set your new three digit combination.5. Be sure to rotate the Reset dial to its original position. Caution: Hold the number dials in place whilerotating the Reset dial to maintain your combination.

Upgrade from what I was using
I bought this hide-a-key device to replace the old Altoids candy tin that I had been hiding a key in. This new case is approximately the same size and shape of that old candy tin - so it fits pretty well where I hide it. The plastic case is a step up security-wise from what I was using before, but not by much (which isn't really an issue, the hiding spot is more important than how secure the case is - IMO).This case is secured with a three number combination setting, which you can set (comes set to 000). Setting the new combination is easy - remembering what you set it to is hard (hint on mine - my street address is three numbers.) Once set you can always change it again later. The one complaint I have with this device is how hard the number dials are to rotate, maybe it's just that I fat fingers - but they are a bit tough to get into position.Like I mentioned the case is about the size of a Altoids tin, and when unlocked the end cap on one side pulls out and swings out of position so that you can either insert or remove a key from the interior of the case. The inside is filled with a foam material with a single slot cut into the middle of the foam. I'm guessing is the intent is to keep the key from rattling around in the case, and that would keep people from knowing there is something in there. I find getting the key back out is hard, so what I have done is tied a bit of string to the end of the key and leave that hanging out the foam. Makes for removing the key a whole lot easier. The case has a very strong magnet on one side of it - which I was unaware of when I ordered it (didn't read the product page very closely - just the reviews). The unit also comes with a metal plate that you can attach to a surface and stick the magnet to - which is what I did. Like I said the magnet is very strong so you don't have to worry about it ever falling off. There is also a little metal rod recessed int one corner of the case, which I'm guessing could be used to attach some sort of tether to, to keep the case from walking off on it's own (or with someone). I haven't used it yet, but I'm considering it.All-in-all I'm happy with my purchase - this is definitely an upgrade from what I was using. Yeah, the dials are a bit stiff to rotate, but I'm guessing they will get looser the more I use them. One additional note - the case I received did not have the big GE logo on it like the one in the photo on the product page.Review for - Kidde AccessPoint 001859 Stor-A-Key Locking Key Case

Code does not work after first use, but still easy to break into
The media could not be loaded. I was so excited when I first got this lock, set the code and put my key in it, tried it once and it work perfect. Put it in its hiding spot and waited it need it. I was being dropped off at my house from the airport after a trip so I went to grab the lock box, put in the correct code and tried to open it, spent five minutes trying to get it open while my aunt and uncle waiting for me to get in the house before leaving. Eventually brought it over to my uncle to open and he tried everything also. Finally he decided to try to break into instead, the lock box was VERY easy to force open with just bare hands. The foam inside is great until the key gets pushed down to far into the foam, so getting out out after breaking it open was still a hassle. But still, in the end, ANYONE could have opened this lock, it’s all plastic and poorly made. Time to shop for a new one.
