Great STEM item
Arrived quickly. My husband would love to keep it so he could play with it, but it is going to make my nephew very happy!

The package was severely damaged, but the contents were not broken and they were all there. Thank you

Gear slips
It was not difficult to build. My 7 y.o. built it with a little help from adult. The problem is the one gear rest on top of the others. In high torque mode is just slips of other gears and does not move the vehicle. In the speed position, it works just fine. You can really feel the difference between to two gears when pulling back on car. It does demonstrate potential and kinetic energy well. Would be nice to include a lesson on gears and gear ratio.

it easily slips off where it is supposed to rest
As a robotics teacher, I bought this as a tool to teach the relationship between torque and speed. I think my students will learn a lot from the assembly of the vehicle and the concepts it is trying to teach. The toy itself though, is rather poorly designed. A movable gear simply rests on top the others so that you can adjust between a torque model and a speed model; however, it easily slips off where it is supposed to rest. Just pulling the car back and it slips off its resting place and cause the whole mechanism to need to be reset. It's rather frustrating to use.In terms of instructions, I don't think they are as bad as the other reviewers have made it seem. There are a few tricky steps, but if you're paying attention you can easily assemble this car. It took me about 20 minutes to assemble as an adult with experience in VEX.I like the mechanical engineering principles being employed here, but VEX should consider redesigning how the gears switch back and forth.

Don’t buy this toy!
I don’t know why anyone would rate this toy above a one star; has to be company representatives!!! This thing is illustrates poor design, unclear instructions, fragile construction and is a waste of time and money. I’m a mechanically inclined adult with good patience. I spent at least 5 hours putting this thing together due to poor instructions. (Instructions are drawings so language can be avoided.) Only a person with a great tolerance for frustration will be able to complete construction. My 11 year old grandson was disappointed he couldn’t build it himself and broke it within 10 minutes.

piece of junk
Do not buy this product. After 2 hours of putting it together with horrible instructions, I pulled it back twice and it fell apart. Finally got it put back together, and one pull back and it fell apart again.

Slipping gear... poor design!
My poor son spent a couple of hors putting this together only to have that 1 gear that a lot of people seem to have issues with slip. Didn't even have the opportunity to see it work. Very unfortunate!

Dont buy
Got this as a gift, absolutely terrible product. Directions are not clear as well as one wrong move and the whole thing will fall apart mid assembly sending tiny pieces everywhere
