Great at the Forge
Solid feel. Sizing toe weight shoes requires a solid hit. These work perfectly and well balanced. Sheering heals on the anvil we’re good as well.

Nice enough.
It was a bit wobbly, but I expected that from past reviews. After wedging the head and handle together, and about 10 minutes of dressing the steel, it is proving to be a very good hammer. Good deal, if you have the tools and know how to “finish” it. Otherwise, it comes pretty rough, and is likely to lose its head.Jacob Dean

Well-made!
Bought this for my blacksmithing wife. Fits her hand and does the job. Enough said.

Bad product
Received the hammer to day the head was not attached securely. I could feel the wobbly head before I unwrapped it .

Head is loose
The head is loose and wobbly after a couple months of hammering hot steel. Also all of the edges are angled at 45 degrees instead of rounded which puts dents in steel that are difficult to grind out.

Loose skinny handle!
Very thin handle was loose upon arrival. Replaced with short husky handle. Works great now.

Nice hammer
The hammer came well packaged, and was absolutely usable right after unwrapping. The handle fit is perfect. It was set with a pound wedge and tight and square. I didn't like the finish on the handle. (personal preference) As some have noted, it was very thick, but It scraped right off with the blade of a sharp knife. The paint on the head was sloppy and too close to the working surface. The cross peen was not quite right. This was easily fixed on the sander, but could also be done with a file. The head is made from high carbon steel. The shape is good, but not perfect. The paint is only OK. fixable, but I would have left it off completely. (minus one star for these flaws) The handle is good quality and well set. Overall, very good and usable as it came, and easily fixable.

Decent Hammer
The head is a nice enough forging, it feels balanced in my hand, and it didn't take a lot of efort to dress the working surfaces. And then there's the handle. The shape is good enough, I would have preferred a bit more curve, but you can't have it all. The real problem is the thick slippery coat of polyurethane. I knew I would have to sand it down like pretty much any hammer, but the thickness of the coating was nuts.Once sanded clean, the handle feels much better and doesn't threaten blisters as much as it did out of the box (or bag).Overall I'd hapily buy this again, knowing that I should order a sandpaper assortment along with it.

Solid hammer... needed work!
Just starting to get into blacksmithing. Purchased this hammer knowing I was going to modify it. The finish it came in was horrible, my 8 year old nephew probably could have done a better job. That being said, I took a wire wheel to it to strip off the coating, after realizing there were alot of imperfections in it. I then sanded down the entire head and reprofiled it to a smooth finish. I applied some gun blue acid to darken it back up. The face and peen were very rough so I reshaped and polished both ends to a mirror finish. Lastly I stripped the finish off on the wood handle and used a torch to darken it, i then sanded it up to 400 grit and applied some linseed oil. Came out pretty nice and the hammer is solid. So if you don't care about looks, the hammer is worth the price if you just want something on the cheaper side. If you're handy and want a little project to work on, it's definitely worth it.
