Yes that should work fine because the waist has adjustable buttons so they can grow with your child and you can get more use out of them hope that helps I bought my son when he was 4 years old the 5T and he can still wear them now as a six 6 years old because the waist is adjustable and I bought the length just a tad longer so I get more of my money's worth out of them

no just the adjustable elastic bands on the side of the pants

Yes they are. The label inside the pants says The Children's Place boot cut. My grandson has 2 pair. They are very nice Jean's. Good adjustable elastic in the waist.

I ordered a 4t and they were a little long not way to long but to where he can wear them for a while. I was very pleased with these. I think they would work for you. I hope this helps
