Simply amazing
I bought this device in hopes of doing some nostalgia gaming, this device did not disappoint. It came loaded with all the Pokémon games I was hoping for and ready to go out of the box. The ui is a little clunky but after watching a few tutorials on YouTube it is easy enough to get the hang of it, mainly saving games, closing the games properly and the correct way to power down the device. Once you get that down it’s like being transported back to the late 90s early 2000s with that classic gbc feel. Plays games amazingly. Only real issue is the battery life is not great, only lasts about 5.5-6 hours on a full charge with no sound on. Wish it didn’t have an internal rechargeable battery, instead it would have been better if it ran on aaa or aa batteries. For me the price is totally worth it for the Pokémon titles alone: heart gold, silver, fire red, yellow, crystal, ruby, sapphire, emerald and several more. Will be looking into replacing both sd cards with upgraded ones for reliability as the ones included are a cheap generic brand.

love this little guy
like other reviews have said, some of the game files are buggy/corrupted so if you're looking to avoid dealing with that mess get your own SD card and put your own games on it. otherwise, purely from a hardware perspective this little thing works surprisingly well. it really feels like a gameboy in a way that you just can't replicate by playing the same games on a tablet or a phone. i'm giving it 4 stars because the UI is hard to navigate and the pre-loaded games can be buggy or corrupted. but considering i've been glued to this thing since it arrived, i'd say i'm a satisfied customer!

Display (Screen) issues **Updated 1/21/2024**
**UPDATED REVIEW**The reason for this screen issue had something to do with the custom firmware or OS (operating system) I was running on it, which was JelOS and even 351Elec. This device can run both of these perfectly but in order for the screen to function properly and not do this you have to get a specific screen driver file for this display. These custom firmwares work on several of these handhelds and the developers of these custom firmwares update the drivers the best they can in order to work universally on the devices that they support. This device is several years old so the display drivers on these current custom firmware’s don’t work anymore with this specific device and you would need to Google and find the display driver file for the RG351V and then transfer it into the folder of whatever custom firmware you want to use. People have already done this and so have i, but they explain it. It’s a simple drag and drop solution and finding the file is easy. Just search “RG351V display driver”. That should get you started in the right direction. Point is, this handheld is not broken or defective, it’s simply a driver issue that’s easily fixable.**INITIAL REVIEW**Though this is a fantastic product, it really is, I’m having issues with the display not displaying anything after being turned off and then back on again and when I wake the device from sleep. This happens after using it for awhile. When I take a break from playing, I come back to it and the screen doesn’t show anything. It’s on but no sound and no picture. It takes several times for it to do this but the display will inevitably stop working. I’m tech savvy and extremely familiar with these, I own several just like it. I’ve never had an issue like this. I’ve opened it up and checked the internals and there’s nothing wrong with any of the ribbon cables and nothing wrong with the screen ribbon cable, nothing is damaged or nothing looked damaged. I just got this as well. I’ve only had it for a week and the screen issues happened ON THE FIRST DAY I had it. The only way I can get the screen to work again is if I take it apart then put it back together. It’s really weird. Turning it off and on DOES NOT FIX IT AT ALL. So I obviously have a defective display. My advice to anyone buying is buy with caution. 50/50 chance that you also could end up with a defective display. I read someone else had the same issue.

Amazing for nostalgia
Considering this handheld comes in at the same price as a gameboy on ebay and allows you to play more than just NES and SNES but a bunch of stuff. So out of the box the packaging feels like it's a premium product and the buttons are extremely nice. The joystick adds the ability to use it instead of the dpad or as an additional input for consoles such as the psp.ALTHOUGHT out of the box the console comes with a 16gb SD card for OS and a 64gb for games(preloaded) I would recommend tossing both, installing ArkOS which has much better performance and emulation, but also upgrading the SD cards to SanDisk or Samsung so that they perform better as well. You can buy this product, turn it on, and play right away without any additional hardware or software. If you are looking for a handheld, for a good value, with good battery life, and an amazing screen, I recommend this over and over.

Doesn’t have Mario and doesn’t save game progression
Great product SIM card included some nostalgic games like legends of Zelda and mortal kombat. Does not include any super Mario games and no clear instructions on how to download new games into system. Also you can’t save your game progress. Gaming display and battery is great for size.
