Dynomax Super Turbo 17463 Exhaust System Kit for Jeep Cherokee

This system fits nicely. It was easy to install and the sound is mellow.

this is not going to be one of those upgrades that you lose your mind over, but it is for sure better than stock. i got this particular set because i dont have a lot of money right now and i saw rust forming on my exhaust pipe and figured time for preventive maintenance that i can do. good thing i did because the mounts were so rusted out that they began to fall apart on removal. if your cat is welded to the exhaust through out any ETA on installation as, depending on the quality of the weld, you will be working pretty hard. the more you use it the quieter it gets but it for sure has a deeper tone. at the time of this review i have an all stock engine. all i have after market are front/rear bumpers, wench, and hood louvers (get hyline offroad louvers for the cherokee XJ as it it works great- im 5-20 degrees lower under the hood with an average decrease of 10 degrees).i did notice SOME improvement but nothing comparable to a pinto before and ferrari after. it was pretty slight. it did help on the 5-7% grades i have to crawl in my 91 cherokee XJ and still came out on top gas wise by a few miles on the 1/4 tank. yesterday though, someone wanted to block me from merging into the right hand lane to make a turn and it sure was nice to mash the gas and get a response (i won by the way). maintain throttle control and you can probably get more out of the enginein short:if your stock and you want refinement but cant afford the higher end exhausts, its worth considering. if you want something that wakes people up at night, this aint it. there may be some MPG gain if you know how to use your throttle properly. if you get some sunday driver blocking you, you can better gun it past them and not wake up the baby/wife with the engine, just the profanity you use regarding sunday drivers.

This item was shipped on time and arrived when expected. Fits great. Sounds good, we'll see how long it lastsUpdate, muffler rotted out after only 2 years. Good price if you want to do it again soon. I'm going with a welded muffler this time

The media could not be loaded. Easy install but I did have to fabricobble up an extension for the front hanger on the tail pipe piece. The hanger rod was welded onto a different place than the old pipe that was being replaced. Other than that it was a straight forward easy peasy cat back kit install.

Missing parts.

Installed in about an hour. Perfect fit for my old 92 Jeep Cherokee beater. Kit came with muffler,tailpipe,adapter from 2.5” to 2.25”. Also 3 each of the 2.5” clamps and one 2.25” clamp for the adapter. Sound is deeper than stock so you get a little rumble. Tailpipe has no turndown, however the end is an oval shape which is straight out of the back of vehicle.

The system is not that great of a deal when you may glance over it. Honestly, for aluminized steel it's a bit pricey. However, that all changes when you factor into account the $75.00 mail-in rebate that DynoMax is running on this (and many other) of their systems. That makes this exhaust system a pretty great deal for a performance system! Just go to their site for details - dynomax.com. I got my rebate in about 3 weeks, which is probably record time for any rebate I ever did. I did clean the system with brake cleaner, then soap&water, and then painted it with VHT RustOleum silver paint, hopefully it will keep the rust away for a while. Although it fits & sounds great on my 1992 Jeep Cherokee, there would be nothing preventing this system from fitting on a newer XJ - even though it isn't listed as a direct fit, it will work (you may need to bend the hanger on the exhaust pipe, but I know people who did not need to as well).I also have a video of this system so you can hear its sound, search it on that internet video site! ;)

Dynomax said this does not fit 1996 cherokee XJ but it does . It includes a 1/2” to 1.25” short pipe adaptor that connects rear of Cat to input front of muffler. I used the modern Band Clamps at front and rear of muffler and a common clamp at rear of Cat to adaptor because it only had enough room for a regular clamp. Then a band clamp at rear of muffler to tail pipe. Then a regular clamp at rear of tail pipe hanger , just keep it loose and move it to a position where tail wont hit spring or gas tank then tighten, also had to bend upward front corner of gas tank edge to gain more clearance. Use 2 Lap Joint band clamps at front & rear of muffler they don't crush the pipe. So you may remove any part in future if needed.
