Let me clear this up since it is confusing; Although it receives a L14-30R plug only the weather proof version will fit (ie generator extension cable) the lose plugs won’t fit because they aren’t weather proof (there’s a slight difference in size for this reason)… as for the knock outs you’re on your own because they are a pain in the neck on this particular inlet…I’d suggest a step drill bit

what is the max Wire gauge that the rear of the receptical will except?

I dont know max guage but it took 6 guage httn with no problem
