The Real Book - Volume VI: C Instruments

Real Book - Volume VI: C Instruments Review
As you may know, Real Book, among lots of performance musicians, is a standard for quick, easy to read and reliable score. Sometimes notation from on-line sources can be sketchy, but Real Book is great. To get the charts on one or 2 pages, there can be codas and repeats, but it's great not to have to turn pages when performing outside on a windy day for example... when everything needs to be clipped down so it doesn't blow away.... or like for when keyboard players need both hands during velocity passages. I got this particular book for Pick up the Pieces, a great tune. The charts typically include nice advanced chording and signature baselines are often included, too. Often, there is no left hand as the competent keyboardist usually knows how to fill that in from knowing chord theory... or in many cases you're playing with a bassist and you just need to apply the chords properly. When I get another Real Book, it's always fun to look through and play some and find more fun songs to perform, as usually they leave out the junk tunes. Obviously, I'm a fan. Oh yeah, I also like to write performance notes on my charts, so I still like paper charts; old school, I guess, but I don't have to worry about battery life or power outages, or like in a recent show, we played out in Pitman, PA at their cool apple festival, and there was no internet service. My buddies with their chords on the internet, were in a bit of a bind, haha. Yeah, Real Books are cool for intermediate to advanced players.

Another in series of good books
What more can you ask for. Good clean lead sheets for a bunch of classic as well as some contemporary songs. All legal.

Smoke on the Water?
Great collection of jazz tunes and standards featuring some deep cuts from the likes of John Lewis, Red Mitchell, Benny Carter. Much to play through at the piano and discover, especially some unknown (to me) tunes from Harry Warren and Lew Henderson. But, but, but. There are some clams here. Can anybody at Hal Leonard tell me why they saw fit to include jarring rock numbers like Smoke on the Water? There's just a few of them and they don't affect my rave rating, but still. Space could have been much better used by including numbers that the audience for this book might actually want / need.

Waiting for Book 7!
I've got all 6 of this series. Best thing I've ever invested in. Easy to read charts and fantastic selection. I don't wanna sound like a geezer, buy honestly, if your ears work properly, they really don't write 'em like that anymore.

so you can see that I like them very well
I have all of the available books in this series in Eb Bb and C, so you can see that I like them very well, but, this Volume VI came without pages 409 through 424. Has anyone else had this happen? I intend to ask for a replacement book, but perhaps anyone who has purchased this volume should check that all of the pages are really there. It only matters to me in that I have no access to a Gershwin tune.
