Great book to study logic.
Great book! On my exams I got 94% , 101% and 90% it was online class so I only studied from the book. The practice problems really help you out.

Older. Some minor differences in text, mainly updated for generational relevance. Some Chapter Exercises different.
This is the older version. There is very little difference between this and the newer version, but it became an issue in our Logic course as there are some newer exercises in the new book. Our professor was understanding and willing to work with us on the exercises, which are definitely different in many places, but which are used in our particular course. That may not be true in your course, but the exercises are very good, both in this book and in the new version. The book explains symbolic logic well and offers adequate instruction on how to break down statements to determine the logic of an argument, or whether a statement actually qualifies as an argument. For the little that I paid I was satisfied. The book that I bought was a brand new hardback and I believe that it was under $10. The book for the course was closer to $120. Some people have criticized this, but symbolic logic is a bit technical, and it may be necessary to reread the information presented in the book and restructure it into your own notes so that you can get the hang of it. I would expect that with any book on this topic. I have seen others, such as the Copi/Cohen book, and it looked to be similarly difficult.

Has its ups and downs...
This is a decent textbook. The third edition (this edition) is almost EXACTLY identical to the fourth edition, all the exercises are the same, the only difference being the page numbers. Despite being overly wordy in more places than one (see: Unit 1-26, i.e. the whole book...) some of the examples and exercises can be rather amusing. It may seem like an overwhelming amount of material at first, but if you stick with it, it really isn't that difficult. As long as you take it slowly, and your instructor is able to explain things in simpler terms than the book, you'll do just fine.

Taught myself.
This book was fine. I just hated having to take a required logic or ethic class. The class was so slow, and I really didn't like the way the instructor taught the class. I thought we were supposed to cover one chapter a week because that's how the class schedule was set up, but I found that the chapters got dragged out. This book was very clear cut and explained things well that I ended up teaching myself.

Great book
I used this for a college course a couple of years ago. This subject can be hard to grasp after a while, but I still enjoyed it personally. It is not a book to read for the fun of it unless you like challenging material.

How is this “acceptable”?
Firstly, this “book” is held together by duck tape and faith. There is enough water damage on it that I think it took swim lessons! It is barely legible. This is such a disappointment. At best, this book is worth $100. That’s only because I can read most of the pages. You can do better for less at a campus book store.

Average textbook
Obviously, I bought the book for a class. She is not the best of writers. Unfortunately, I can't give an opinion on which book would be better.

Indispensable
Just an amazing and well explained textbook. Recommended for anyone wishing to learn and master the basics of symbolic logic.
