Discover the Night Sky through Binoculars: A systematic guide to Binocular Astronomy

Returned on day of receipt as its not what I think it should be!
I do not think I have ever been so disappointed in a book for a very long time.To be frank, I have no idea who this book is directed at. Ok its for astronomers using binoculars but what age group, how much knowledge should they have or need and how old is their reading age. The last one is very important as once you get a few pages in it gets technical and I do not think it needs to.The diagrams are all black and white and not easy to understand, though there are links for colour maps via the internet - cheap way to lower costs on production I think. Itss commendable that the book deals with month after month. One other gripe, its double spaced to make the book take u more pages. Why? It should be like other books with no more than 1.5 spacing at the most.I should add that the book is for those in the northern hemisphere, a fact I do not think is staled in the Amazon add, but being in the northern half of the planet 🪐 if it was a readable book, it would suit me.

Excellent Book for Astronomy With Binoculars
This book is excellent. The only problem is the star maps. You will be better off buying a really good star map and use this with the book. Otherwise, if you only identify, in the sky, just one or two of the monthly targets as described, then you will be well on your way to a full appreciation of the night sky. I find binoculars more convenient than using a telescope just to get outside quickly when the clouds clear, and this book helps me to go star hopping to find open clusters, galaxies and nebulae etc.. There is no reason why you cannot point a telescope at some of the objects described. This book is well worth the money.

Cannot recommend this book
The copy I received (and returned on day one) is is a very poor reprint of the original. The star maps are almost illegible. The cross references link to incorrect pages. For example the chart of magnitude comparisons is on Page 126, the index tells you to go to page 122. And that chart is absolutely useless, it cannot be read in bright sunlight, let alone at night, say with a torch.I got the impression this A5 sized book is a reprint of a large format book (where the star charts would actually work).Incidentally, I've been an astronomer fo over 60 years, so I know a little about the subject and purchased this for a friend who'd just purchased some very good binoculars.

The above
Was led to believe I could make out Mars farely clearly but not at all. Moon looks slightly bigger but wouldn't waste your money. Save and buy a proper telescope like I am. Binoculars for sale going cheap.🤣🤣🤣

It is a teacher and a guide
As you go through the book you learn about each of the stars clusters and nebulae the more you use it the more you remember plus it tells you about free star chart downloads you can print out to a size to suit, well worth the outlay .
