The holders seem reasonably ok although I have not used them much yet. Be aware that the chalk is NOT REGULAR CHALK. I have a good quality chalkboard. My husband and I marked on the board with the chalk and tried to erase it as chalk. It required a wet cloth to remove the marks. I will say the chalk moves smoothly on the board and if you don't wish to use it as a school board it may be suitable for art work.

I am 71 and retired. I bought these hopping they would not only work with chalk but alsowith standard size crayons. Well I was pleased when the crayon fit perfect. I have OLD weakhands and have a hard time holding onto small things. I do "search a word" puzzles and like to usecrayons. I did buy "Large" crayons and they work well without a holder. I had a lot of regular crayonsand was hoping I would find something to help me use those also. These are perfect. Also good forchildren I think. Since I am OLD and am not around small children I don't know for sure if the chalk/crayonholder would but worth a try at the price. I am happy I took a chance....

No dust. But harder to erase. Nothing like chalk at all

I bought this chalk set for my 6 year old daughter for her birthday. She loves it and uses it all of the time to play “school.” No dusty chalk on her hands and no broken chalk pieces everywhere.

Only buy if you are using normal chalk. The mechanism can be flimsy sometimes and the build quality just feels like cheap plastic
