Pimsleur Spanish Quick & Simple Course - Level 1 Lessons 1-8 CD: Learn to Speak and Understand Latin American Spanish with Pimsleur Language Programs

This program was very easy to do, 30 minutes a day and I learned how to get around and ask how much, where is, is it over there etc. Very travel orientated, but sometimes I had a hard time understanding their pronounciation and had to do the lesson twice.It was great to hear the conversations in the beginning and got easier as I went along. While in the Dominican, I could actually understand what people were saying sometimes

Arrived very fast. Good introduction to Spanish for complete beginners. It doesn't say until you listen to the first CD that success is only guaranteed by repeating the words and phrases "out loud" so tricky to listen in public places without everyone staring!! This is also Latin American Spanish and really meant for the US market, so pronunciations are slightly different, but Spanish all the same. Easy to follow instructions and even my husband who said he could never learn another language is picking it up :o) This is only an introduction, but good value if you're not sure you want to buy the whole course.

This set of CD's, if used per instructions, will produce theresults it was designed to produce. Some websites will purchase itback from you (at reduced cost of course).If you are serious about learning Spanish and would like tocontinue beyond very basic conversations, then forget aboutpurchasing this set and purchase the comprehensive set instead.

I purchased this audio CD in 2005 before a visit to Chile. It proved to be invaluable. I went thru the first 4 lessons before my trip. When I arrived, I was able to have great conversations w/ the locals. It helped that I had also taken a class... but having the audio helped my pronuncation.The only problem is that these lessons are geared more toward the Castilian form of Spanish... that used in Spain which is not exactly the same as the Spanish of western hemisphere. For instance, "I understand" is expressed as "Entiendo" not "Comprendo".Bottom line, if you want to learn the basics quickly, I doubt you'll find a better deal!
