An exciting and unforgettable look at Wall Street!
Master of the Straight Line is an exciting and unforgettable look at how Wall Street does business from an insiderโs point of view.It made quite an impression on me how the expert salesman and women convince you that an investment is good for you but it is all about other objectives. This book is hard to put down as it portrays the lavish and decedent parties that go with this fast and rich lifestyle of a stock broker. We see the amazingly intense pressure to perform and sell, no matter how bad it is for the client. Even scarier is how these arenโt โbadโ people but decent people coerced into doing bad things for the allure of big money.A great story! You will not be disappointed.

Understanding the anthropology of greed
Mary Ellen has some writing ability, and her portraits of her colleagues are acute. There is perhaps a lack of introspection about the origins of her romantic and professional misadventures, but this is still good source material for those interested in the anthropology of greed.

A great read
I was hooked from the first page and read the story in one day. Having seen the movie and knowing personally about Stratton Oakmont, " the Wolf of Wall Street". I couldn't put it down. I felt the excitement of the Christmas party and it's aftermath, the thrill of closing the deal, her disappointment at the end. Ms. Detres truly tell's a fascinating story, from the insiders' perspective! We look forward to reading more about Ginger's adventures. We're fans of Ms. D!

Interesting view
This book gave me a good alternate perspective on what actually happened at Stratton Oakmont. If you can look past the poor editing, there is a lot of good content in this book. Great read.

GREAT INSIGHT INTO THE WOLF
Fascinating story from an insider to the mania of what Jordan Bellfort created. Hard to believe this is all true!

Where were the editors?
I had just finished reading The Wolf of Wall Street and thought this book would be a great behind the scenes look into even more of the shenanigans that took place at Stratton Oakmont. First of all, M Detres is not half the storyteller that Jordan Belfort is. Second of all, at least 50% of the pages in this book had some type of typographical, spelling, or grammatical error. It was extremely distracting and made Ginger look ridiculous, as opposed to the fierce Wall Street warrior she would like us to believe she was. I was glad that I borrowed this from the Kindle lending library as opposed to spending any of my own money on it.

A good in-site to the goings on in Stratton Oakmont
I found this book a really good in-site to the Stratton Oakmont story, a better description off what went on inside Stratton Oakmont day to day running off the place, even though all the names have been changed I think you get a idea who is who. It shows not everyone was there knowingly ripping everyone off, it even give me a heads up about a recent call I got from a broker firm...it is not long book but gives a really good in-site into how a lot off people traded pre-internet...a good read

Hard to read with so many spelling and gramatical errors.
Would have benefited from being edited for spelling and grammar. Good story but its difficult to read when there are so many errors. Just look at the back age fr most obvious one.Given that most of the people involved are now known, there is little point using pseudonyms. Jared Bellmore ?
