Needs Better QA
As a sharpener, this product works well on very hard stainless steel hooks. The groove is excellent for precise sharpening. Where the product falls short is the paddle/cover. It doesn’t close completely on one side but what’s worse, it’s darn near impossible to get off when it’s all wedged in. If the manufacturer could solve that part, it’s a 4 or 5 star product.

Ideal for the outdoorsman.
I like the design, carry it right next to your favorite knife. Sharpens fast and accurately. Remember..use at 21° angle.

great sharpener that is easy to store
I keep this sharpener in my pocket. It's very handy and sharpens my EDC knife great. The double sides give you a coarse and fine sharpen depending on what you need. It's a great pocket sharpener and I recommend it.

Simple, sturdy, double grit works fast
Larger than the similar product I've had for some time, this dual grit sharpener works really well and quite quickly. It's not fancy, probably won't get your blade to shaving sharpness, but puts a quick and sturdy edge on in little time. I appreciate the thickness of the grip, which also helps avoid the possibility of a misplaced swipe of the knife coming down on your hand. Would be nice if it had a beveled or tapered edge for sharpening serrations or difficult to access parts of a knife blade, but my other one does have that so it's not a problem.

Functional but cheaply made
As Buddha-dog says in their review, this sharpener is crudely made of cheap materials. The idea is a good one, but the choice of materials really makes this sharpener feel cheap in the hand.In addition the stones themselves are very gritty and inconsistent - even on the “fine” side you can feel ragged irregularities as you sweep the blade across it.Bottom line I’d say this is good to keep in a drawer in the barn for sharpening garden tools, hatchets, and that sort of thing but I would not use it on my fine kitchen knives or expensive hunting or pocket knives. The coarse side is very coarse and will remove a lot of material very quickly - I was able to reprofile an old gardening knife very quickly to an edge burr. But the fine side is not fine enough - I found that after a few strokes to clean off the burr, I moved to a 1000 grit whetstone to finish it (and 1000 grit whetstones are usually a “starting point” for sharpening. As mentioned in other reviews, I also struggled to open the sharpener once it is folded closed all the way (had to pry it open actually). As I said, good enough for a tool box or garden shed but I’ll stick to my worksharp, Lansky, or DMT sharpeners for my serious tools and knives.

A little crude, you can do better at this price point
This is definitely serviceable, but the build quality is a bit crude and it's substantially thicker than it needs to be, limiting access on certain edge tools and taking up more storage room than necessary. The one I got doesn't close quite all the way; the groove in one side of the handle that the sharpening paddle fits into is too tight. That tightness also makes it a struggle to open. It's a little tricky to lock-in the handles to keep the paddle from pivoting when open, but once it's in there it works okay. The locking mechanism is like a little mortise-and-tenon on the outside of the handles. The tenon bit is sharpish and can be uncomfortable to grip in the closed position or cause a laceration when digging around in a tool bag or whatever. The handle has a rubber over-mold and the plastic is ABS I believe, no glass-fill like on my DMTs. The hook/point sharpening groove is a handy feature. The diamond nickel plate seems fine, very consistent.Overall, not bad, but at this price point I think I'd go with the DMT double-sided folding paddle: https://www.amazon.com/DMT-FWFC-Double-Diafold-Sharpener/dp/B00004WFTW/. You have a choice of grits, it's more compact, and I've always found their build quality to be solid and definitely more refined than this model.
