Sanrio Hello Kitty Shaped Ice Cube Tray

Waiting for summer to use them but can’t wait!!

I ordered this because, well, who doesn't like HK shaped ice? I'm not entirely sure if it's an officially licensed product, but I don't care. It's so darn cute! It makes 3D ice as apposed to the kind that's flat on one side. The only problem was trying to figure it out! If you were perplexed like me, you just have to overfill the bottom tray, and then push close the top tray. Do it all over a sink because water spills everywhere. It snaps into place and you just toss it into the freezer and voila! HK ice! I suggest leaving a small air bubble at the top of each cube to allow the water to expand in the freezing process. Experiment with it and you'll get the hang of it. One less star than five because there were no english directions or pictures. Had to figure it out, but, it wasn't too hard.

It's a little difficult to figure out at 1st, because you don't want bubbles in the ice, and can take many attempts to try doing it correctly. Also, the directions aren't in English. So, you pretty much don't have any directions.The ice also isn't as perfect as in the photos. It often has seems.It's also very different for women and children to open once the ice has frozen. You will need an adult male to help open it.However, my daughter loved this. She drives me crazy because she ONLY wants Hello Kitty ice!

This makes ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE ice cubes. Take note, you may need to practice with the water level a few times until you get it just right. But that's part of the fun! ALSO - keep in mind you may, like me, prefer to let them freeze WITHOUT closing the latch. If you try to get them as full as possible (to make a fuller form) and you close the latch, the water that comes out will freeze over the latching areas and make it very difficult to open.Love Love Love this item!

Guessing this may be due to the water I used, but the ice cubes did not come out clear, so difficult to see the detail of the figures. And, most of the cubes were difficult to get out of the tray without cracking. More troubling, the tray has two halves and snaps together with plastic tabs, which also keeps the water in the ice cube figures. After a couple uses, one of the tabs broke, so the water leaked out of the shapes.All in all, a fun concept with potential, but don't expect perfect ice shapes or a long lasting tray.
