Watch the videos of other similar ones, Nice for a Pinch - not a long-term option.
So I found this one after the other ones wouldn't arrive in time for me to drive 2.5hrs each way to buy my first 3rd or 4th hand whitewater kayak - Liquid Logic Flying Squirrel 85. So Excited! But the video for this product is not a good one on how to use all the included parts. Or basically how to use it at all. More about just showing how much fun people have with products you can move with this roof mount kit. So I suggest you look at other similar parts on AZ to find a better tutorial on how to use this kit. But I am glad it came with everything I needed. That being said I have tied down other kayaks onto our van's roof rack many times - but that was with Rope. This is with straps and while similar I felt I could not synch the straps down as well as I could with rope. But the straps stayed in place on the car, stayed in place on the Kayak, and with the bow and stern tie downs to the hood and trunk helped keep this in place because I could see both bow and stern ropes. This made it with the Kayak 2.5 hours back in the rain. I just left the parts inside and with a slight fan blowing over them they all dried overnight. So all are back in the travel bag they came with.Nice use for in a pinch but I would suggest a more sturdy and longer term product for regular use. I personally would give this maybe 10 -15 uses before the straps or 3/16 diameter ropes don't make it and I wouldn't trust my retail over $1000 kayak to this for more than just a few trips. But thanks for providing an inexpensive option to get my Kayak back home and to the storage location.

Can carry two kayaks on the roof of a Toyota Camry.
Roof rack pads fit our Toyota Camry perfectly. We are able to tie down mine and my husbands kayaks to the roof stacking them on top of each other. Where we go to kayak is about 6 miles from our house and we only use two of the tie down straps that go over the car. We don’t use the trunk or hood ones. We found that if you twist the straps before you tie them down then there won’t be any vibration in the straps. When the straps would vibrate it would make the sound of a flat tired. Also if you are tall the straps going through the car will hit your head. But all in all the roof rack and the straps work good and are easy to install.

Inexpensive solution that works
I know what you're thinking. Really. "This is going to scratch my roof." Was I right? In short- it depends. If you clean the area before installation and keep it waxed, it likely won't leave a mark. If it rains, the road grime will get under this and any movement or vibration can result in light scratching that will come out with a cleaner wax/buff. This is best used as a temporary carrier- put it on for the day, then take it off when you get home. If you wanted to use these regularly, a clear adhesive vinyl strip on the roof would cost maybe $20 and protect the area whenever this is used. All in all, this is a perfect way to have a backup for getting my kayak to the river. If my wife takes the SUV with rack somewhere I can toss the soft carrier on our other cars and get where I want to go with my boat on the roof. I might even use these along with the basket rack on my SUV for moving large boards on my roof to reduce scratches. The price is right- I've seen similar products going for much more, so this seems like a good product for a good price.

Works great on my car
Works great for hauling SUPs. Just remember to twist the lines a few times for noise control.Easy to put on and off too.
