Great DIY Temp Gauge for Honda XL/XR/XRLBikes (1983-Present)
I've heard bad things about XRsONLY.com gauges; bouncing needles, leaking oil, breakage, price, leadtime (lol). This DIY gauge has been free of those issues and costs next to nothing to make!Get a Tusk oil filler plug ~$14, drill out the center with a 5/32" bit to create a slightly undersized hole, carefully ream the hole with the same drill bit until the gauge stem is a snug fit. It will not leak oil, has plenty of tension to prevent the gauge from rotating, insertion depth is adequate for checking oil level although the oil level is easier to read with the crosshatching.

Works but not well made
The product works, but I was disappointed to find out that the dial cover was made of plastic. I left the thermometer in the oven for a little while when measuring the temperature of my turkey and the cover melted. My old thermometer was heat resistant and I could do this no problem with it. Because of this, I wouldn’t recommend this product as it is cheaply made and not well designed.
