Room for my son to ride along and he loves it!
Love this mower! Super fast even on normal standard mode. Digital screen is cool. Silent run, and very quiet mower. Charger works fine. 4 batteries lasts about 1 hour and maybe a bit over an acre, though I'm not going full speed. As a plus, my 5 yo son loves to ride along lol.

My first electric ZTR mower.
I’ve received, unpacked and and assembled a new EGO 42” riding mower. I have to say now, after a few hours use, it has exceeded my expectations!First, it was delivered on a steel, roll-off pallet huddled in a steel frame with mower covered with visqueen plastic sheeting. Very impressive. The frame was easily disassembled using only a ½ (13mm) socket and an electric impact driver. Works easiest with a second person with ½” box end wrench to hold the other end of the bolts,Remove a couple of hold down straps over the rear wheels (One ½” bold on each side). Remove pair of wheel chocks on the front wheels, release the parking brake and an easy roll off onto the ground.Assembly is also a breeze. Tools are included. Just mount and align the steering bars and install the seat. Remove the batteries from the cardboard boxes and drop the batteries into the mower. Now that you’ve accomplished all this, open and read the instructions, They are well written with very good illustrations. There are a lot of pages and it will take a while to go through all of the materials. You can do all of this while the batteries are charging.I am replacing my old (10 Y.O.) Toro 42” time cutter. (15 gallons of gasoline per season). Now after one hour of operating this new EGO, I am amazed how easy it was for me to transition from the Toro. It is a short learning curve to understand the switch functions and LED display.Cutting the grass is as good, if not better than the Toro. Blade speed is adjustable and at the lower setting it still cuts well enough and the machine is whisper quiet, I have about ¾ acre to mow and it did it easily with the 4 supplied batteries. Air temperature in the low 70’s.Now for my complaint: The mower deck height adjustment works fine but the cut depth indicator numbers are in a place that is hard to see. I can’t see the numbers while I am seated. It’s an easy fix for the factory.Again, a very well engineered machine with an excellent instruction set. I’m happy.

Just charge and mow
I ordered on a Friday and it was delivered the following Wednesday. The freight company wouldn't deliver to my house because I live down windy narrow roads. So I had to meet them nearby and transport it the rest of the way myself. A minor inconvenience but nothing out of the ordinary when you live in the sticks.Pro tip: The manual tells you to completely disassemble the metal shipping cage. It is a lot easier to just remove 8 bolts around the bottom of the cage and then lift the top part off the mower. (see pics) Then you can turn it upside down and use it to store firewood if you want.2nd Pro Tip: try not to rip the black plastic covering. You can use it to cover the mower instead of paying $90 for the Ego mower cover. I keep my mower in an old shed, and the plastic keeps the bird s%&! off of it.Assembly is straightforward and didn't take long. Updating the firmware was a little intimidating, but it worked fine (just follow the instructions).I had never driven a zero turn mower before so there was quite a learning curve (I got stuck in the ditch on the maiden voyage). It has a lot of power - it goes up steep hills much easier than my gas mower did.My biggest complaint is the handling on slopes. It will go up hills fine, but when going sideways on even a gentle slope, this thing always wants to go downhill. It doesn't get very good traction and will slide and tear up grass. I've heard of others adding weights to help with that but I haven't tried it.It's basically silent when the blades aren't on, and not very loud when they are. I like to listen to music/podcasts/audiobooks while I mow. I used to wear earbuds under protective ear muffs. With this mower I can hear the earbuds just fine without wearing ear muffs or cranking up the volume.Everyone already knows that an electric mower doesn't use gas or oil. But my absolute favorite thing about this is that it has no belts! My old mower drove me nuts constantly breaking belts in the middle of mowing. So I'm so happy to be done with that. No more gummed up carburetors; no fouled spark plugs; no clogged air filters. Just charge and mow.
