Excellent viewfinder and now No need to glue
I purchased from B&H another viewfinder but I returned it because there was no way to adjust the diopters. This viewfinder has several pros that I like a lot and only one con. The positive: 1) price. The other options available are not as good and the good ones will cost you at least $180 or more 2)You can fold it open to review the pictures/video in any environment in which light would make it difficult 3) The manification is 3X as opossed to others that only offer 2X 3) You can adjust the diopters if your eyesight is not 20/20. The negative: the only con is that it requires to stick the frame directly onto your camera. Some people say it is easy to remove later and clean, but if I want to protect my investment I wouldn't risk to have residues of glue or scratches around the LCD. I found a solution that not only solves that problem, but also does it in the most elegant way they can possibly think. I am talking about the GGS III Generation Optical Glass LCD Screen Protector for Canon 7D. The way it works is very simple. You remove the eyecup of the eyepiece of the camera and hang the attachement wich fits perfecly, then you put the camera's original eyecup to lock it. You can now use the frame that comes with the Flashpoint LCD foldaway and place it on top of the CGS III Generation. Just a word of caution. When you remove the Flashpoint viewer do not pull it as I did. The glass from the CGS III Generation came out. Press the button on the side of the Flashpoint viewfinder and gently remove it. I sitll attached the Flashpoint viewfinder to the naked frame of the CGS III and it works perfectly. There were some reviewers cautioning videographers not to buy the CGS III because the increased distance will not allow you to focus. They didn't mention with which viewfinder. This review is for the Flashpoint in which you can adjust the diopters. It is incredible sharp even with the CGS III in between the viewfinder and the camera's LCD. An for less than $10 I think is worth it. Besides, you can return it on Amazon if it doesn't deliver as promised.Very happy my camera has a good viewfinder for a good price and I solved the issue of having to glue the viewfinder to the LCD

Decent piece for the money, but don't be confused by the dual-function description like I was.
First off, it is not a high end product, but instead I would classify it as a good option for hobbyists that own decent equipment and need a way to block out the light when using live-view. I purchased this for my 60D as I use my camera 50% of the time for photos, 50% of the time for video, mostly shot outdoors. Because of the video, I needed a way to block out the light. Now to my confusion, which isn't a big deal, but is worth mentioning. I saw the images in the advertisement and made the incorrect assumption that when the eye-piece is flipped up into what they call "regular" mode of the dual-functions, you could look backwards thru that eyepiece and see easily thru the normal viewfinder without taking the attachment off. Yeah, that was my fault for not getting a better grasp on the functions, but I figured if I made this wrong assumption, others would as well. What "regular" mode is, is simply the magnification eyepiece flipped up so you can see your LCD screen as it normally is. That helps when looking for better color and focus accuracy. Flip the eyepiece down and you get easier viewing with 3x magnification. The installation of the lens bezel was simple...I just made sure the room was warm, cleaned the screen well, put the bezel in place and set a hardback book on it overnight to be sure it remained in place with pressure. I only have a day's worth of use so cannot say how it'll be long-term, but everything appears to be working well. The viewfinder snaps on and off easily and seems to be decent quality for the abuse it will see, though I am sure for double the price you could make a far nicer quality. I don't need better at this point so I guess I'm happy enough with this purchase.

Didn't work for me
I bought this a few weeks ago for use on my Canon 7d. I take a lot of photos outdoors and hoped that this would allow me to view the camera screen in the bright sunlight. The price worked for me, the packaging was fine, and the device itself looked reasonably well made and functional. I followed the instructions, which required sticking a permanent frame around the camera's screen which would allow the hood itself to be attached or removed. I was surprised to see that the mount included a clear plastic or glass plate that covered the lcd screen. In hindsight, I think it's only function was to hold the otherwise flimsy frame in the right shape when mounting it to the camera. On a relatively hot and bright day here in the Pacific northwest, I hiked in to a mountain lake. The screen cover that is a part of the permanent mount quickly steamed up making the camera's screen completely unusable. I had to take a knife and pry off the frame to be able to see it. Now I have to get the residue of the sticky tape off the camera. I am a bit skittish about using a solvent on the back of my camera, but the instructions with the hood describes how to do it.So, I have had it for three or four weeks but never used the hood and have now removed the mount from the camera. I will try using it by just holding it in place when I need to shade the lens, but I am disappointed that it didn't work for me. It might work quite well with those doing videos. Possibly leaving the hood in place would have prevented my screen from fogging by preventing the bright sun from heating up the screen and fogging inside of it, but that's not for me.
