So much better than traditional stud detectors
I've spent far too much on different stud detectors of the usual design - a screen to pinpoint the centre, and two sensors one at each side. They do their thing, but they never give me much confidence because I don't need to know the centre of the stud, I need to know how wide it is and where there's hollow and where stud. The Franklin does all of that through a row of LEDs, I wish I could show a video. You can see the width of the stud as a row of lit up LEDs along the length of the device, and if there's mains electricity, then the electricity lights light up to warn you. What would I like to see? Depth, and perhaps the depth of the plaster/ drywall. But you can't have everything (at least I don't think anyone has done that?).Absolutely brilliant, and although it's expensive, it's cheaper than buying 4 ordinary ones that end up not doing the job as I've done before this.

Does exactly as expected.
I haven’t used a stud finder for years. I remember them being really vague and not that great. This one really does what it promises. I easily found a stud to mount a tv wall bracket. The electrical warning seems to work well too. Very impressed.

Flashing AC constantly!!
I was about to write this off as a piece of garbage- I was using it to detect electrical wires under plaster and on a chimney breast and it was flashing up as showing electrics under all walls.I was at the end of my tether as it was the second device I have bought.I googled it and the diagnosis was to put a hand on the wall you are scanning- as plaster is not grounded it needs something to break the circuit.Well it worked- the wall I thought had no electrics doesn’t so I managed to drill into it confidently.

I've seen better build quality in McDonalds happy meal
First impression: build quality is that of a toy you'd get out of a McDonald's happy meal - absolutely terrible. It's flimsy to say the least and doesn't feel like it'll last long in a work bag etc.I'm not sure how this product has obtained the reviews it has as the price point vs detection ability is woeful. I found one wall in my house it half reliably found a stud, the rest, including a simple bit of marine ply with studs behind it, it didn't have a clue.I'll go back to my £20 stud finder and get this returned!

Amazingly good stud finder
I really can't praise this enough. In my experience, it's surprisingly accurate, and the way it shows studs is very useful and practical. My only negative is that it only shows presence of cables behind its entire length and not in the same way it shows studs, but I can live with that. On the plus side, contrary to other stud finders that require the power to be on to detect cables, this works even when the switch is off.

Waste of money
After reading reviews I thought I'd get this as other digital ones didn't seem to be very accurate. This worked for about 5mins but no matter what wall I put it on it would detect electric cables everywhere. I managed to find 1 stud but the button just doesn't seem solid enough as it's just a little plastic clip that could easily break. Sent it back. I may of just been unlucky and got a faulty one. Bought a magnet one for £16 and found all the studs on the walls within minutes.
