Useful to have
This book makes reading easy as it supports reinforce learning and each time readers build on information. One drawback is the pages are cheap so you have to use it with care and as best as possible keep it in warm places to help protect it against the cold climate.

Great content but paper quality is poor!
This is great for struggling readers and I would highly recommend this book. However, the pages are translucent and make it hard for new readers to focus.

Helps build on reading confidence
I really like the pyramid design of the sentences to read. It’s starts with one word then repeats and adds a word and continues building the sentence to a bigger sentence and builds child’s confidence while reading.

Best Bang for Your Buck!
I don't normally write reviews but this program deserves it! I recently started homeschooling my 1st grader -- he had completely plateaued in school but wasn't doing poorly enough to get any extra reading instruction. He literally sat in the same reading group at the same level all year last year in our neighborhood school. I researched for months on what we should use when homeschooling and kept coming across this program, but I thought maybe my son would really need something with a lot of pieces to it. Since this was much more affordable I decided I would give this a month or two first, then invest in a more expensive program if needed. Our first few lessons he complained and was resistant b/c he just didn't love reading but we persevered. Well, it's only been 2 1/2 weeks and he is actually picking up books without being asked and reading them. He no longer gets upset when we take out our reading books -- he wants to do more! He actually looks forward to writing now because his spelling is improving as well. This program has boosted his confidence and in such a short time. I am in awe that this one book can do so much! And bonus - it is VERY easy for me to implement. I can't believe I almost shelled out big bucks for one of the "name brand" programs!

The best reading tutor book for struggling readers
I highly Recommend this book my son struggled before working through this book. My son entered 2nd grade at a kindergarten reading level. He was not grasping sight words. How did we learn as children Phonics! This book teaches Phonics not sight say it teaches your child to sound out words rather than memorizing the key words like most school systems do today. This book is not dry my son enjoyed doing it he loved how fast he progressed not only was he amazed but so were his teachers. His primary teacher contacted me because she was amazed how fast he was catching up and wanted to know what I was doing with him at home Reading Pathways. No tutor needed. Not all children can pic up on site words my son is now in 9th grade an honor roll student and does all his work on his own this book played a big roll on getting him there and we still talk about the book to this day it is incredible. I wish the school systems would teach from it. I believe my son is has a better understanding of vocabulary than a lot of his peers from doing these books. I highly Highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to help there elementary and grade school child the comprehension happens so quickly you your child and their teacher will all be amazed.

shouldn't teach reading without this book!
This book makes me so excited! I am a first year homeschooling mom using this reading pathways as well as the phonics pathways with my 2nd and 4th grade kids who were previously in public school. These books start out slow and build up at a good pace to give them really necessary reading skills! We are about halfway through reading pathways and about a quarter through phonics pathways (it has about twice as many pages) and I already see an improvement. Plus the kids love doing the lessons! Obviously you can use these with much younger students who are learning to read but my kids who have known how to read for a few years now are gaining from these books! I plan to use them for my two youngest in a few years when they are old enough to learn to read (they are 3 and 1) They don't teach phonics like this in public school. I am so glad I came across these books!!

3rd grader reading better now
I have a 3rd grader who was taught to memorize words in school. He was taught to look for "strategies." Looking at the beginning and the end of the word, then look for pictures and other words to help him figure out any words he was having a hard time with. I couldn't get him to sound out letters and letter combinations without him continuously trying to guess the entire word.Starting with Reading Pathways, he was a little put out because it is so simple. Simple short vowel sounds that he has to sound out individually then blend them together, incrementally until he's blended a whole word. However, I required him to go ahead and do the easy stuff all the way through. We'd do 2 pages front and back (ttl of 4 pages) because he could go so quickly. We're not that far into it yet and he's already sounding out words a lot better. He's making less mistakes when he does read and he's not jumping straight to "strategies" for most of his reading now.We will continue through the book and finish. It's been exactly what I hoped for and I am very pleased.

Thin pages but great content.
I love this reading program, my son likes the idea of the triangles However, some of the early pages feel like tongue twisters to him and he gets frustrated. Also the pages are thin and he can see the next page behind the one we are working on, a blanket white page between seems to help but I do wish they had used a heavier weight page so this wasn't an issue. It's very distracting.
