Works well after Radioddity replaced a faulty one
I got this to use with my UV-5XE instead of the two short whips that came with the HT. The first one did not work. However, Radioddity's customer service was very responsive, sending a replacement that does work. Amazon's website for this return was pretty annoying but once I got to Radioddity, all was fine.

Easy Setup
I ran a performance evaluation on this antenna and compared it against a quarter wave reference antenna. This is a tri-band antenna that covers the 2 Meter, 1.25 Meter and 70cm Amateur bands. On 70cm this antenna shows about 2.1 dB gain over the quarter wave reference. The other two band were on par with their quarter wave reference antennas. A word of caution: If you are using any of the cheap Chinese radios such as the Baofeng, and the VHF output is not filtered, then this antenna present a very strong 2nd harmonic over the fundamental transmitted frequency.

This is an excellent antenna and I think it is the best one I have bought. I ordered a second one as well.

*** NO TX ON 222 mHz, SWR is EXTREEMLY high ***
I an extra class operator and have the proper equipment to measure such antennas on a proper ground plane and also under HT conditions as well. The following are my test results of the Radioddity RD-371 triband 144/222/440 antenna compared to my reference Diamond RH77CA 144/440 antenna. Both antennas were put under the same conditions during the testing. Eg. The same ground plane, coax, test equipment, location to objects, etc.Radioddity RD-371 triband 144/222/440 antennaFq. You will destroy your radio in a very short time. The SWR is EXTREEMLY high. Advertising this antenna for Transmitting on the 1.25m band is FALCE ADVERTISING! Even as a dual band antenna this antennas SWR is poor on both the 2m and 70cm bands. The SWR needs to be under 1.5:1 for best performance even before field strength testing. I did not wish to burn my radios up so I did not even do a field strength test on it. I will be sending it beck for a refund. Buyer beware! Test your antenna or have someone who has the proper equipment test it out before you transmit on your radio. Beware of YOUTUBE videos that show some guy testing these antennas out and having good SWR results. Test them out yourself. I mostly buy these just so that I can test them out and review them. On RARE occasion I stumble across a good one and keep it. But a work of advice. Buy a Japan made antenna. The Chinese ones are garbage for the most part with few exceptions.

Solid performing antenna for the price!
Seems to work very well on all three frequencies. It seats okay, but not "perfectly" to the Baofeng UV-5R-E which is the UV-5R in triband format. I don't have any other female SMA radios so it is not an antenna commonly used in my repertoire of HTs but it is good enough and although I bought only one to try out, I am strongly considering another. The two triband antennas by Radioddity have been been great so far. I have two of the shorter whip antennas (RD-301) for convenience and now the 17.7" antenna (RD-371). Pleased with the price and the performance, only negative, the fit to the radio and that was so minor I did not take any star points off in this review. Photos show just a little shine from the gap between the base of the antenna and the radio (very minor).

Good Aerial
Very similar in looks to the Nagoya variety. Works well with my Baofeng handheld and I've tried it on my handheld scanner too and performs well. Good for the money!

longue, longue!

Better than the rubber antenna
Much better reception, than the rubber antenne.
