Very heavy duty and well made.
An excellent DA polisher, very heavy duty and very well made. I have had good luck with other Makita power tools I have used and this polisher is no exception. I use it on a 24' fiberglass boat. The "power rotation" works really well for removing oxidation from the fiberglass with no risk of burning the surface, as a rotary polisher is capable of doing. I've used both types of polishers on fiberglass and definitely prefer the DA with power rotation as opposed to a rotary polisher. Although the rotary polisher does a good job and is faster than the DA, the DA is safer to use as it won't burn the finish of the boat. If I was going to use it on an automotive finish I would use the non-power rotary setting, but for fiberglass I use the powered rotation to cut through the oxidation. Although this polisher is not inexpensive, it's a case of you get what you pay for! You never regret buying quality and this polisher is a well made, quality tool.

Get what you pay for!
Started looking for a new polisher and this kept popping up on YT and the top of search engines. It won a YT challenge. I have always liked Makita tools and know they last and last. The PO5000CX2 does everything I need it to. Comes in a nice case, some ok pads are also included.5-stars, highly recommended.

Defective out of the box
I was eagerly anticipating this tool; after spending a few hours reading reviews and watching videos about different dual action orbital polishers I decided this Makita seemed like it was worth the money. Unfortunately, I have a rare case of buyer's remorse about a product purchased on Amazon.Yesterday I opened my front door and picked up my shiny new Makita polisher. I brought it inside, opened the box, and pulled the polisher out. The tool appeared to be brand new, no scratches or marks of any kind. Once I plugged it in and pulled the trigger, however, I heard a nasty grinding noise like the bearings in the motor had sand in them and it emitted a burning smell. Just wanting to be doubly sure, I asked my wife what she thought once she had arrived home a couple of hours later. She had the same reaction I did: one pull of the trigger, an immediate surprised look, the question "Why is it so noisy?" followed a few seconds later by "What's that smell?"I checked the feel of the oscillator; there was no excessive play. The trigger action was nice and sharp, just as you would expect from a brand-new tool. I think I was unfortunate enough to get a defective tool from the manufacturer; it does happen from time to time. However, for almost $400 I expect better quality control on Makita's part, hence the one star review. The return/refund process was smooth: I dropped the polisher off at the UPS store this morning at 9 AM and by 1 PM received a notification that the refund had been approved. I have to say, Amazon's customer service is excellent. (I will be buying another Makita dual action orbital polisher and will update this review accordingly.)

combines the best of both buffer types for the entire range of restoration
Forced action setting works amazing on boats for buffing and polishing. DA mode for finishing.

great buffer
This tool allows the user to switch from rotary to forced rotary. It's like having 2 tools in one at half the price of purchasing 2 separate tools.Great Value !!!!
