Works great and critically needed
We have a koi pond and if the electricity is interrupted our fish could die. The Risinglink Power Failure Detector has been fantastic when we travel, letting us know if the power goes out. It has its own battery and doesn't need the power from a socket. And, as importantly, when the power comes back on. It sends us both a text and an email, and the notices can be sent to multiple people. E.g., our son when we are away. Great product and VERY simple to set up.

Works great, easy to set up, no subscription required.
This unit works great. I bought this monitor since our power is lost anytime you sneeze outside. I bought a different model before this one, and returned it as soon as I found out you needed to subscribe to a service. This one is easy to set up. Plug it in, find the SSID in the WiFi list, connect and enter an e-mail address and/or text number. Now the power company can't deny power failures - I have an e-mail record of each failure to the second. Two suggestions. One, the alarm is VERY loud. You will know when the power goes out. I would not recommend plugging this into a bedroom, find a utility room or something. Second, it will need a WiFi connection to report. My WiFi cable modem is plugged into a UPS system, so it stays alive during a power failure. If you do not have a UPS, there are cable companies that provide WiFi modems that have their own battery backup built-in. Talk with your provider on how to keep the WiFi connection alive during a power failure.

Works and saves money!!!
Lifesaver! I bought this item bc I experienced a power outage in a portion of my garage that my deep freezer (and a lot of grocery items) are connected to. It took a few tries to get the item to connect, but it paired after a few tries and has worked great since! It has already alerted me a few times now saving me hundreds of dollars of groceries. Pairing the item differs a bit depending on whether or not you have an iPhone or android device. Just be patient and follow the directions to the T, and it will work! Again, great product.

I found a better product than this. This one sucks.
Don't buy this. I've had nothing but problems with it from the beginning. Offline notifications have been sporadic and has resulted in my septic pump, which it was monitoring, to have stopped twice and backed up plumbing into my house. And flooded my floors. And there is supposedly an alarm that I have set up to alert me when power is lost but it has never worked.I've contacted customer service multiple times with my issues.Apparently, I have not been online since April and when I was trying to refresh and set it up I was not able to. And now, despite repeated contacts with the customer support, they are now saying I am out of warranty.I have since found A better device that I recommend and that is Necto Cellular Temperature & Humidity Monitor. It will do the same thing to notify you with the loss of power however it is constantly connected to a cellular service without having to pay for such service. I just started it but I already recommend it because it seems to work as I need it to work to notify me of a loss of power of my circuit. For some reason my GFCI likes to trip and I have already had a professional plumber try to fix it.

Setup and Test Passed!
I needed a device that could tell me when a circuit loses power, especially if I'm not at home. This little device is a jewel! I ordered it yesterday and it arrived today. I just set it up and tested it. It works perfectly.Setup was easy when following the directions. I used my laptop to connect to the device's Wi-Fi hotspot; I'm terrible at thumb typing on a phone. Once the information was entered, everything seemed to work. The test was easy. I plugged the RisingLink device into a GFCI receptacle, and the receptacle was providing power. I tried the ground fault test on the receptacle, killing the power. Shortly after that, I received both an email and a text message indicating, "POWER OFF". When I reset the GFCI, power returned, and I received another email and text saying, "POWER ON". I did not try the audible alarm as it won't really help me.Here's a note about my home network. I'm on Verizon FiOS, on their 5GHz service. My router is two floors up from the RisingLink device. There appear to be no issues with the RisingLink device connecting with my home network. So far I'm impressed with the device and the service.

No app - yay!
I dislike that every time I buy something I have to install yet another app on my phone. This device does not have or require an app which is GREAT! That makes the setup slightly more complex but really not so bad. The instructions are good. The device seems a little expensive for what it is. But if it works well and lasts many years (along with the company remaining in business to host their necessary cloud portion) it will be fine.Update: downgrading to 4-star because it will not work on a mixed 2.4 GHz/5 GHz network. I have numerous other 2.4-only IOT devices that connect absolutely fine to the 2.4 part, so it seems to be a design issue most manufacturers have solved. I was ok as I just moved it to the guest network (2.4 only), but for some people/networks this issue would make it a paperweight.

Has worked well! Simple to install if you follow instructions. I get quick response to power outages and power returning. Works like I expected!
