Transferred Photos From Camera to iPad
The adapter helped solve a very frustrating problem of trying to add photos that I took at my daughter's wedding to an Apple Photos shared album. I used a non-phone camera and uploaded my photos to my PC's hard drive. From there, I copied them to a thumb drive and, with the camera adapter being reviewed, to my iPad. From there, I was able to go into the Photos album on the iPad and add the photos to the album. All of that sounds easy but it took me an embarrassing amount of time to try and dismiss other options, give up on finding an explanation of how to do it online and to finally identify this adapter as the solution. It arrived quickly and in good shape and worked well in transferring the files.

Multiple uses
Just received a few days ago. I was in the market for an adapter that will allow me to transfer pictures, documentation, videos to a USB flash drive and that will also allow my Mini IPad or IPhone to charger should it be needed. Depending on what is being transferred it can be time consuming. By transferring docs, pics, videos, etc., you free up space on your device allowing it to running smoother and depending n the age of the device, faster. Because it is portable and simple, it may come useful for students and/or office work. So for right now I would highly recommend it. Should things change in the near future I will update my review.

Seemed to work-at first... Charge through stops and data transfer is too slow to use
This was purchased to use with a small usb audio interface to record on my iPad or iPhone. While the usb partially works, it's a REQUIREMENT to have power go to the iPad, else the audio interface (or adapter itself) would drain the battery too quickly.A quick test indicated it worked when it first arrived. Then left the adapter connected to my iPad (cover closed and initially fully charged) with nothing in the USB port... only the charge through port was plugged into the standard issue Apple charging cable. A few days later, the iPad battery was dead, when nothing was running. Usually, this iPad could sit for weeks in a similar state and have a near full charge remaining. After unplugging, replugging the adapter, it would not resume charge. But, immediately upon removing the adapter and plugging in the charging cable directly, the iPad resumed charging.Trying the adapter again after the iPad was fully charged, it seemed to be working and the lightning bolt icon was visible on the iPad while using it to transfer a few test files.Perhaps the plug was flipped (even though Lightening cables should work even if flipped over), so was careful when using it to make sure the battery icon on the iPad showed the bolt.A couple of weeks later, there was a need for an extra 6" of cable for my iPhone to reach the power plug, so used the adapter and checked the bolt icon was present and after a few hours the iPhone had increased in charge. (nothing in the usb port during this) Then left the adapter connected to the iPhone with the charging cable for a couple of days and when getting the phone to leave the house one day realized the battery was dead. After a few more weeks of similar results, it's clear that this adapter only intermittently passes the charge through to the iPad or iPhone, when simply using it as a short extension to the Apple charge cable. Both, the iPad and iPhone maintain normal charge when using the Apple charging cable directly. But, in every situation thus far, if the adapter is used, even if the Bolt icon appears at first, eventually it stops transferring power and the Bolt icon goes away.Once the iPad or iPhone is roughly 50% charged or more, if the adapter is unplugged and plugged again several times, eventually the Bolt shows charging again... for a short time until it stops.Since it seemed to be working at first, different Apple cables were tested, with similar failure pointing to the adapter.Bottom line - the $10 adapter ate about 20 hours of my time and ultimately cannot be used because the charge through doesn't work at all most of the time, and when it initially indicates it's working, it will fail within a few minutes or a few hours and you'll have a dead iPhone or iPad.Next issue -Thought it might be useful for simple file transfers from a USB thumb drive as long as the iPad was fully charged at the start. In trying to transfer 1.3G of data from a thumb drive (standard FAT 32) after 4.5 hours, it was only 50% complete and the battery on the iPad was nearly dead, so stopped and recharged the iPad...To complete this transfer of data required recharging the iPad with the original Apple power adapter, then splitting the 1.3G of data into smaller size folders that could complete transfer before the iPad would run out of battery. This process took about 3 days of baby sitting to complete.Ultimately, if you want to transfer a couple of small photos of perhaps 5M, this adapter could work ok.By the time the problem was well understood, it was past the return date.

Just what I needed
Needed an adapter to read external storage on my iPad and it works just as I need it. It doesn’t work with external hard drives, but it does work with external thumb drives, a mouse, etc.

Works good
It’s Apple. It’s a simple product. It does what it’s supposed to. Easy to carry. As sturdy as any other Apple accessory. Works with every USB-A I’ve plugged into it so far. And for the price, it does what it’s designed to do.

Perfect for singing
I use this to connect my blue yeti mic to my phone and it works great. If you’re thinking of using this for your camera, I don’t recommend it because it never picks up on my camera when I connect it. I ended up buying the Apple SD card slot wire from Amazon for my camera !

Works but needs improvement on the connection
It works for iPad with Casiotone LK-S250. It does need re-plugin. Once connected, it works.
