Gives back an ability to the disabled
We ordered this fan for our son who is unable to move or speak because of a stroke. He has a communication device that he uses to speak to Alexa. Using this device he is able to turn this fan on and off, and adjust the speed and make it oscillate. Having an Alexa enabled fan has given him back some freedom that he had lost.

The almost perfect tower fan for large rooms
We are using this new Lasko 48" tower fan in our large living room and this is the 'almost' perfect fan large rooms and we really like it so far. It is quiet and moves a lot of air for large rooms and is controllable with your Alexa voice assistant as well .DESIGN- This is a very beautiful fan finished in white that looks really nice with your room decor. No more bland all blacks or greys you typically associate with a tower fan- The design is so elegant that it blends in and becomes a part of your decor , rather than sticking out as a sore thumb. We placed this fan very prominently in our living room to maximize air flow rather than hiding it in a cornerAIRFLOW & SPEED SETTINGS- The fan has 4 speed settings 1 to 4- Even at the highest speed setting the fan is relatively quiet and does not become distracting- Due to its very large tower size (which is much taller than regular tower fans) , this fan moves A LOT of air in a very large vertical column across your room to provide cooling and a gentle breezeINITIAL VOICE ASSISTANT SETUP- The instruction manual says that there are three ways to setup this fan :(1) The first one is probably the easiest, you can link the fan to your Amazon account directly at the time of purchase and it should be all setup and ready to go the moment you plug in ..similar to when buying and Linking Amazon echo devices .. in theory . This feature however did not work . As of writing this review, there is no option to link the device to your Amazon account at the time of purchase . Maybe they will add it in the future . But it is not working as of now.(2) The second method , according to the manual, is that you go into your Alexa app and do a device discovery .. this again in theory should find your fan and being the setup .. This too did not work for me(3) The third and final method was to put the fan manually in pairing mode by pressing two buttons on the fan and clicking 'Add device' in the Alexa app .. This worked for meLIKES- Beautiful design that goes with your home decor very well- Moves A LOT OF air- Very quiet- Ideal for large roomsDISLIKES- Initial setup takes a bit of time as two of the three methods to pair your Alexa with the fan do not work currently- Very large and bright digital display might not be ideal for bedrooms (but perfect for living rooms)- There is a night mode which dims the digital speed display .. but in its place it lights up a super bright LED bulb that is equally if not more brightFINAL THOUGHTSOverall this is a beautiful, quiet and convenient tall tower fan that moves a lot of air and is perfect of large rooms. The only reason I took away 1 star was the somewhat lengthy setup process and a very bright display/night mode which is not ideal for bedrooms

Works well with Alexa but no remote
This Lasko Works with Alexa 48” Oscillating 4-Speed Tower Fan with Timer is perfect for my kitchen. Easy to setup in the Alexa app but did require a few tries. The bottom base snaps on without any tools. Relatively low noise compared to older tower fans. I’m not sure why it doesn’t come with a remote. What if someone is using this in the bedroom? Can’t be asking Alexa to turn it on/off in the middle of the night without disturbing the other person. One can say you can always get up to turn it on/off but who wants to do that when comfortably resting in bed? Would be perfect if it came with a remote. The tower fan looks sleek and modern. Great airflow, good size for any room. Not sure why I can’t change the settings for the sleep mode. Not everyone want the fan blowing at you on the highest setting when sleeping. I like to keep it on level 1 when I sleep at all times. Would be great if it came with a remote. 3.5 stars.

No remote control
There is no remote control that comes with this fan. I know it’s supposed to have Alexa capability but I was quite surprised that they decided to just get rid of the remote. It might seems cool to be able to do voice control at times but sometimes in the middle of the night, I just want to be able to grab a remote to turn it on/off instead of having to shout to Alexa to do that for me. There is option to control the fan from the app but that means I’d have to have my phone right next to me at night. What’s wrong with just including a remote? That’s the most basic thing that should come with a fan, even a cheap $20 fan comes with a remote. The fan has a low humming sound, it doesn’t bother me too much because I’m used to sound from the street but some people might not like it. The light is also quite bright and there is no option to turn it off. I don’t even understand the point of the sleep mode, why would I want to change the speed over time? I’d rather they get rid of that mode and gives me the option to turn off the light display or dim it. The fan also does not remember the last setting before I turn it off, I think it remembers the speed but not the oscillation so I’d have to ask Alexa to then oscillation back on everything I turn it on.This could have been a pretty amazing fan because it’s just the right height, it’s very cool and I like being able to see the display to know what mode it on but the loss in some basic features really makes this fan extremely annoying to use. I hope the next model fan will bring back these basic but very necessary features.

High-pitched whine
I loved my old Lasko fan...I've had it for 10 years. Two reasons for a new one....I wanted a white fan white AND unfortunately you can't take it apart to clean it and despite multiple attempts it still looked pretty bad.About the new fan....Pros--Moves air well esp on the highest of the 4 speeds.Love the height. The white color is nice. Note: only the front and base are white,. The back is black. The sleep timer is nice but I don't use it.It can be used w Alexa although I do not use that feature.Cons--Has an annoying high pitched whine on every speed present since unboxing over a month ago. I thought it might get better w use but it hasn't.The display is very LARGE, bright and can't be turned off that I can see. It can be dimmed but it is still bright (the first picture is normal brightness. The second dimmed). It seems overpriced... the darker models were much less.I kept the fan despite its flaws, however I have cursed it several times since purchasing. 😂 Maybe mine is defective but if you are annoyed by noises, return it if you get one that irritates you bc it doesn't improve w time.
