Brutal and flexible
This pickup is for fans of active modern metal pickups with quite a few options for flexibility. I had these pickups wired for 2x volume, 2x tone, the V1/V2 options set on the neck and bridge volume knobs to individually control each pickup, and single coil option for both pickups wired to the neck tone knob. The single coil options were wired in this fashion due to the slightly odd wiring scheme method that is required. If you made it through all of that mess so far, you know that the downside to these pickups is wiring and sheer number of options available. with that said, let's get to the tone. So, the bridge pickup on V1 sounds similar to an EMG 81 with a slight bit more of the low bass. there are no preamp compression issues normally heard on EMGs and Seymour Duncan actives. It is pure clean tone. this is noticeable when played through low gain amp settings. V2 has a bit more low mids and less upper treble. This is super clean through a low gain amp. through high gain, both settings are extremely useful and personify the ideal modern metal tone. it should be noted that V2 is not a Seymour Duncan JB tone, nor a DiMarzio Super Distortion tone. it is a modern passive tone that is a bit unique and highly usable. The neck pickup V1 sounds like an EMG 85 with no preamp compression. This is far more noticeable than the bridge pickup due to how badly the 85 compresses. This makes the neck pickup so much more useful. It sounds incredible on low gain and high gain. Again, super clean, no pre amp compression, and nothing but super clean tone. Unreal. The V2 for the neck pickup is a passive but medium-high output tone. This tone is incredibly usable and definitely a gem. Normally, I hate neck pickup tones. Apparently, I just never used a truly good neck pickup. The V2 is a great passive neck tone for high gain and for clean. Now for the fun part: the single coil tone options. These require some research into the wiring diagrams on the Fishman website. I highly advise using these pickups with this option. The single coil tones are unreal. I have a strat loaded with a Lace Rainbow set and the Fishman Fluence Moderns set to single coil have a tone very reminiscent on the Lace single coils. Delicate, responsive, absolutely beautiful on clean amp settings. The best part is that this tone changes when I switch from V1 to V2 on each pickup. This means that i have 4 distinct and extremely usable, excellent tones from each pickup. This is not a typo. 4 pickups in one (and I didn't wire in the High Tilt feature).I highly recommend these pickups to anybody who wants a solid modern high gain tone with flexible options for clean amp settings. These are going to be the new best for metal tone, and new best for flexibility. This review was made using a Mesa Triple Rectifier, an Ibanez NuTube Screamer pedal, and a Jackson King V 6 string guitar.

These are simply incredible
I purchased these to evaluate if Fishmans were worth all of the hype they get before putting a set in my 7 string (which required modification to the body to fit). I ordered the 7 string pickups within minutes of installing these in my LTD 6 string and running through some different settings on my amp. They sound fantastic. Other than some EMGs I used briefly in the late 80s, I have always favored passive pickups, mostly Seymour Duncans. Fishman Fluence are now my go to pickups, they sound so good. There is an immediacy to these that's hard to describe other than it sounds like what you play somehow comes out of your amp faster. That makes no sense to me and is probably a trick of how much clearer they sound than even high quality passives (these replaced a set of SD Nazgul/Sentient which I LOVE and will move to another guitar soon). Pick attack is clear and defined but not overly harsh. Installation is not easy if you want to use the multiple voices but not much different than installing some passives with a coil tap and the kits really do come with EVERYTHING you need which is worth factoring into the overall price of a kit. If you buy a set of Seymour Duncans and need new pots/capacitors/jacks you could easily be looking at an additional $50 worth of parts in addition to the cost of the pickups themselves. Highly recommended.

Fishman 7 string modern set does not fit Ibanez S7420. No troubleshooting support available
I was very excited to install these in my Ibanez S7420 but they do not fit the pick up cavity of that guitar. Pretty annoyed that I wasted my time ordering these just to find out the hard way that they don't fit (unless you rout out the pick up cavity). I tried to troubleshoot this issue to make sure that it wasn't me but they only provide Amazon based customer service; which is useless in this case.If someone reaches out to help, I'll update the review. Until then, I'm a work stoppage with this guitar due to these ill fitting pickups.

Beware of Size!
I'll first say that I love fluences and I've had a set on my main 6 string for about half a year now, so I decided to buy a set to upgrade my 7 string, which is a Schecter C-7 Deluxe. Ordinarily, this wouldn't have been an issue, since I've wired up actives before and was ready, but these pickups are LONG... For reference, I had Seymour Duncan Black Winter pickups in the guitar, but I had to rout out a few extra millimeters of space for those to even fit, these are even longer at the screw base flaps (or whatever the flat part that you screw the adjustment screws into are called), so just keep that in mind. At the screw base flaps, these pickups are 90mm long, 40mm width, and 79mm long for the actual housing. Check your measurements carefully, and you may have to sand down the insides of the frames to fit these pickups too, since mine didn't come with new frames. All that being said... These are the pickups you want. I've had friends complain about active pickups sounding sterile, or not having good dynamic response, but I haven't noticed any of that with these. They have a strong punch and clarity to them that I absolutely adore, and the sheer amount of wiring capabilities lends itself to letting you create a myriad of tones that could honestly fit any genre. I won't go too much into the tonal details, as I'm sure there are many reviews and videos that are much better than anything I could write, but just make sure that you measure out your cavities and frames before you buy these, so you'll know if you need to rout a little extra space or not...

Amazing clarity with high gain -- almost as if they ...
The only pickup I've ever found that lets the low F# string on an 8-string guitar sing with the rest of the strings in a chord. Amazing clarity with high gain -- almost as if they had less intermod. I installed these on an inexpensive Harley Benton, and they transformed the guitar. Also have them in my Strandberg Boden 8. Wonderful, wonderful sounding pickup.

Recomendadas, aunque faltaban piezas.

Ok, not life-changing
Put a pair in a PRS CE 24, configured for push/pull voice selection and wired coil tapping. The coil tapping doesn't really articulate super well, but the modern voicing is pretty aggressive. The passive voice is good too, a bit more bassy, less compressed, but still doesn't quite have passive "punch." Given the choice between this and an EMG HET set (which I also have) I'd probably pick the EMGs: they sound about the same and are far easier to install.

Go listen to YouTube previews, they rock solid
The sound is just awesome. I did some reading and lots of YouTube video watching before picking theses. I don't regret a thing, i swapped the whole kit that was in my 2018 Gibson RD for theses. Note that the RD has a 3 pots configuration instead of a regular 4. My luthier had to wire a Main Volume and each tone has a push-pull configuration to change the voice on them. Playing with 12-60 gauge strings tuned to Drop B. Makes a huuuge improvement.

No Ragrets
I wanted to try these for a while and finally pulled the trigger. I ripped out an EMG-81, EMG-85 combo out of my soloist to stick these in. One thing to understand is that these are hot active pickups meant for people who like hot active pickups and most likely playing high gain. Yes, voice two is more passive voiced but it's still pretty damn hot and I would argue that even that has the feel of active with just more of a passive EQ curve. If you play primarily Blues and always hated EMG's than maybe try the Classic set cause these aren't for you.I wired these myself and I tried to wire almost every feature in and let me tell you, it was a nightmare. A lot of F bombs were dropped that day and I screwed up the wiring on one of the push pull pots. Some solder got into the pot and now it's stuck in the pushed in position so I couldn't test the coil split. I did wire in the high frequency tilt on a mini switch though. If you lack patience it might be a good idea to pay someone to do this. Now for the pickups. Voice 1 bridge is basically a less compressed EMG-81. If that's something that appeals to you it rips. The Voice 1 neck WITH the High Frequency Tilt switched on is a less compressed EMG-85. The mid blasted creamy leads are all there. Sounds excellent . With the Tilt switched off this pickup is THE brightest neck pickup I've ever tried. In fact, it is so damn bright that you can pretty much play chugga chugga rhythm riffs on the neck pickup and you might forget you've got the neck selected. I don't like it. The problem is that switching the high frequency tilt on takes something away from the bridge so I will have to rewire this guitar in the future so the toggle only effects the neck or I'll hard wire the high frequency tilt feature on the neck which is actually what I would recommend (I heard some people also only wire the tone control to neck which is another option).Voice 2 has a more passive EQ curve but still retains that active response and articulation that I like. Some stuff just doesn't sound right with the EMG like EQ profile but switch to voice 2 and suddenly the sound is there. I have an almost identical guitar with Duncans and playing that guitar feels much looser. Don't expect these to turn into a JB-59 set in voice 2. They are still bar magnets and active so they are their own thing. They sound much fuller clean than the active mode. I could see some people getting these and using voice 2 almost exclusively.Overall I'm extremely happy with these pickups. They add a lot of versatility to a guitar. I feel like they are an upgrade over the EMG 81 85 set. If all you're going to use is voice 1, I'm not sure they are worth the upgrade. They are better but not $300 better. Also they have a higher current draw so I imagine the battery will drain 3-4 times faster than EMG's based on those specs but when you add the different voicings and switching options I have no regrets about this upgrade.
