Pick the Bonfire size over the Ranger
Last Cyber Monday Solo stoves were on sale. I was skeptical that they would be worth the money, but I took the plunge. I initially bough the smaller Ranger size because it was less expensive and if I decided that I didn't like the "smokeless fire pit" experience then I would be out less money. Penny wise Pound foolish.Don't get me wrong, the Ranger is a great little stove. It's light, easy to store, easy to carry around, and doesn't take up too much space. BUT "little" is the operative word. It is very difficult to find wood that fits without cutting it down or buying very over priced short cuts. I do have a chainsaw, but I don't particularly enjoy having to cut up a bunch of wood into smaller bits. It defeats the purpose of having a relaxing evening by the fire.Granted, the Bonfire still can't handle "fireplace" length logs, but there are plenty of gas station and grocery store bundles of wood that fit. It is also much easier to fit in sticks from the yard for kindling.Unless you are taking the Ranger in the back of your car to a tailgate, just skip it and get the Bonfire.

Great fire pit
While the claim of “smokeless” is a bit over stated, it was a nice warm fire on a cool Halloween night. The assembly was easy and fast. Burned evenly and a small amount of wood lasted all night.

Super hot
The media could not be loaded. I switched to pellets as the wood was always too large. I bought the pellet adapter and whoosh! So warm we had to keep backing up.

Beautifully designed
Beautiful design. produces way less smoke than typical fire pit and the secondary burn is fun to watch. It’s so efficient that people often think it’s fed by gas. Only downside is that it burns so hot and sides are so high that s’mores can be tricky. Otherwise a perfect addition to our back patio.
