Awesome little compasses. I bought twelve of these for a boys field day. They are simple, sturdy, consistently point north, and are easy to use. Also, the magnifying glass in them is large. We were able to make fires with them on a sunny day. Great survival tool.

Not accurate

I bought 10 of these for my Trail Life troop's orienteering course. These are a great value and work well, with several useful features on the baseplate. The bezel rotates smoothly. I'd give them 5 stars if it weren't for one shortcoming: the black ring under the bezel lacks a clear bearing marker painted on it--it has a raised marker on it to line up the bearing, but it's really hard to see. If that were painted white or similar bright color, it would be much easier to establish the bearing.

Very affordable map compass just like the one I had in Boy Scouts

Everybody should own one of these - especially for children! They're a great educational tool, and though hopefully you'll never *NEED* it (not great for survival situations), it's tons of fun to have. Makes a great gift for kids aged 4-10!

Used it for occasional orienteering races. Needle is probably not quite as magnetic as it should be. Good enough for hiking, not for orienteering.

Perfect 'starter' compass for my Scout kid. Cheap but robust enough for quarterly camps. Found and held North with no trouble - if your looking for a compass that works and not expensive then get this one
