Best ever for our game night
This thing is amazing. It even still erases if you forget until the next day. The d m can draw on it real easy.. You can count how far your spells and attacks really go. It's great

Sturdy mat for your next campaign
This is a nice, sturdy mat to use for mapping out visuals in tabletop gaming. It's a little thicker than cardstock with a semi-glossy coating on top that provides a great writing surface for dry erase markers. I haven't tested it, but as long as you don't use a lot of water on it, I'd imagine it'd also be suitable for wet-erase markers if you want something with just that much more staying power in your gaming. With two sides providing both hexes and squares, it's suitable for a wide variety of systems and games. And at 24"x36" it's a decent enough size to be utilitarian but not so big that you need your own designated table. While not enough to take a star away for me or anything, I'd have loved to see perhaps a little more thickness like a thin mousepad-like material in between layers to give the mat a little more substance and give it the ability to naturally unroll without holding the curled memory state. Considering the price, however, what you are getting is of solid value.

Essential for Every DM!
Edit (8 months later): I originally gave this four stars but am increasing it to five because it has been one of my most essential, go-to items as a new dungeon master and I recommend that everyone get one! And the more you use it, the better it will flatten out.Original review: I completely love this map, but I couldn't give it five stars because when I followed the instructions on how to flatten it out it damaged the material with crinkle marks. And the ends still curl slightly. My solution was to put coasters on the edge since gamers get thirsty anyway. ;)But you will also need to buy dry erase markers separately because the one included was dried out when it arrived.

no suprises - curl needs management - acceptable in every way
If you can get a piece of Lexan, lay that over the top of this (or, at that point, any other print) and dry-erase write on that. But if not, some weights will hold the edges but the paper's moderately thick which means it holds a curl. But also that it doesn't feel flimsy, so, tradeoffs.hex- and square-grids means I can sketch out a nice regional map, scan it to a pdf and print it (free Adobe phone app) black and white, then flip the sheet and battle-map at need. If you can find a larger-diameter tube for storage you'll be happy you did, as it will help with the curl.Paper edge separates if you're uncautious sliding the sheet around - which shouldn't be a surprise, as it's made of paper, thick and shiny but still layered. And like I said, it's plenty thick.Comes with 2 dry-erase pens which is a nice touch. 4 stars across the board not because anything's wrong with it, only because nothing's particularly amazing. Just plenty acceptable for the cost, which is all you can fairly ask for.

Best mat ever?
I’ve been playing dnd for about 7 years and mats come and go. The reason why I love this mat is because of how durable it is and how easy it cleans off. When using the markers just a spritz of hand sanitizer and bam it’s clean like new. Another great thing is the container it’s very strong and durable. It’s like a blueprint holder, and with a bit of creativity can be painted over to look custom. Overall I love this mat hopefully it lasts longer then the last lol

Good mat overall
The mat, rolled, holds its curled shape. Works well when laid flat. So far, has good color and cleans easily.

great mat, but won't last long
I just barely used this item last night for our D&D campaign. While it worked great, and the dry erase wasn't difficult to remove.... There seems to be fold lines coming up between the game mat and it's laminate cover. While this isn't a deal break, I find it kind of disappointing that it's happened after only ONE time unrolling and flattening it out. Doesn't bode well for the longevity of this Mat.

multi-purpose mat used for fun & as an educational tool
My 3yr old loves to makes Cities and drive her cars all around her city. We use to make cities using the road tape which was fine but we went through a lot of road tape and when it cleanup time we'd toss the tape. Having to remake the city each time is not ideal because kids don't have the best attention spans. This mat is perfect for making her Cities because we can clean-up with the city still in tact, easily change pieces of it or make a whole new city. It's been fun actually playing cars in the city instead of spending so much time making a city and then when your city is done so is your kid.We also played tic tac toe & practiced her letters on the other side of the Mat.It's been a multi-purpose mat used for fun & as an educational tool in our home :)
