Great saw.
A great saw at a good price. My neighbors and I are grateful for far quieter sound over a gas powered saw. I also like the torque that makes it less likely to bog down while cutting.

Battery power finally surpasses gas.
I'm a DeWalt guy through and through and had been eyeing this chainsaw for a while. Even though I believe DeWalt puts out quality products I was skeptical at the CC comparison claims but having used this saw many times I can tell you battery power has finally surpassed the power of gas imo.Pros - the saw is lightweight, powerful, quiet. It saws through the hardest of woods with ease.Cons - the saw has a tendency to overheat the batteries. I'm using a flexvolt 12ah and while that provides enough juice to take down a good size tree the bigger issue is with the batteries overheating if you're using the saw continuously. The only other issue I have is the lack of available replacement chains as it appears DeWalt has dropped the ball on supplying 20-in chains. I believe Oregon makes a replacement chain but they're difficult to find.Overall the saw is well built, powerful and has fully replaced my Stihl chainsaws. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Big power & lightweight.
DeWalt is my tested & brand of choice. Only drawback is it needs a very powerful battery to last awhile. I purchased a single 9 amp hr flex battery with a charger. No cheap investment going electric for a chainsaw but may be worth it in the long run. It does carve up 20"+ diameter logs with no strain. This comes at a cost though. You may only get about 15 min or less out of a 9 amp hr battery. One battery & fast charger cost me over $200! The chainsaw was $362. You could buy a very nice gasoline chainsaw for $500. Need to think before you buy.

$300 battery lasts 15 minutes and saw itself lasted 6 months
This saw works great for a very short time and the idea behind it is amazing but Dewalt has just gone to crap with build quality. I have all the sizes of the DeWalt electric chainsaws and I use them specifically because they are nearly noiseless but I have to rebuild my DeWalt equipment regularly. I'm talking about full rebuilds because the internal components are so weak and underbuilt. I'm always having to find parts online and/or fabricate parts to keep them running. If you're not an engineer or of that mindset to be able to re-build these, this may last you about 3 months of hard use at best before it breaks down and that's if you keep up with proper maintenance while being VERY careful and gentle... Since the batteries die very, very quickly you'll need about 10-20 $300 batteries to do a full days work with these.

Better than expected!
Short and sweet review. It worked better than I thought it would. I abused the heck out of it and it kept trucking. Battery life with a 9 amp hr was dismal, my 15 amp hr was a work horse. The 9 amp hrs (i have 2) either kept getting over heated and only ran for maybe 10 chops on a 12 inch log. The 15 amp hr worked for hrs and cut logs way bigger than the recommended thickness. If i didn't have the 15 amp hr, I would have been disappointed.Cliff Notes. If yer working in the back yard with only a few tress to trim, prune, or chop then it's great. With the 6 dead trees I had to remove it took a few weekend with letting the batteries cool down and re-charge. For a weekend warrior project chainsaw it's totally worth it. For lots of tress and timeliness, this is not the right product for you.

A monster that kills batteries but can be improved upon
Mixed feelings on this - I got this after my 16” battery operated DeWalt chain saw died.Initially I was highly impressed but as noted elsewhere this 20” version will drain/heat your batteries up to failure within a few decent cuts.I got so ticked off that I contemplated getting another 16” model, but figured I’d try building a Frankenstein before admitting defeat. I figured out the 16” bar would fit on this 20” model, which sounds wasteful, but has actually created a truly awesome machine! Better motor, better saw dust extraction, and more generally available chains… I now have the perfect battery operated chain saw.
