This cube is great. Smooth and not as expensive as the Rubiks brand or some others. Can't recommend this cube enough. Even if starting out on 4x4 I would recommend this cube.

Like many cubers, I started with a Rubik's brand cube and quickly learned about the world of speed cubes which are so much easier to turn that a Rubik's cube. The Rubik's 4x4 is particularly slow and cumbersome to turn. This Moyu cube, in comparison, is an absolute pleasure to play with! It has magnets that snap the layers into place and it has super smooth and easy motion in all directions. The plastic surfaces have an excellent grip and feel to them. It is adjustable if you want to fine-tune its performance, but I haven't had the desire to adjust anything yet because it's got great performance out of the box.My only complaint is that the Moyu brand logo is a sticker on an otherwise stickerless cube, unlike more expensive cubes where the logo is screen-printed on, but that's a very minor complaint.If you haven't bought a 4x4 cube yet, definitely skip the Rubik's version and get one like this. This is an excellent value for money and would make a great gift for a puzzle/cube fan. Highly recommended!

I've been playing with twisty cubes sine the 80s. 4x4x4 was never my favorite because they are always harder to turn and more likely to fall apart. On the traditional 4x4x4 cubes, my experience has been: the new cube starts tight; it is difficult to get things aligned to turn properly and a very slow process to work through my patterns to the solution; after about a dozen solves, it starts to loosen up and become more fun to use; the fun lasts a few dozen solves; then it becomes too loose and every turn is a careful process to make sure none of the loose pieces pop out; the loose caretaking continues until it is too loose to use and time to replace.This is my first speed cube. Right out of the box, I was amazed at how well it turned. It was easy to use. From the first mix and solve, I had no trouble with aligning the layers to easily turn. I've mixed and solved it several times and it is still performing well. It has not yet required any adjustment, but the fact that it can be adjusted as it gets more worn in is a great plus. (I expect it will loosen as I play more, and the ability to tighten it will extend its life.)
