Cheap fix for an old key fob that’s worn and falling apart
Made my worn-out key become a brand new key! The old fob was falling apart and the key was all twisted, so this was a necessity.Transferring over the internals is a breeze, with the exception of the immobilizer chip. Depending on your old fob, removing the immobilizer chip could be easy (like it was for me, just requiring a small screwdriver to pry it out) or it could be more difficult if it’s glued in. My best advice is to take it slow and if you can’t get it to come out, get a professional to help you so you don’t damage the chip. Then take your old key to locksmith or a hardware store like ACE and they will take care of cutting it to match your old key. It feels so much nicer to have a brand new housing and I’m glad it was cheap to do!

Great key fob but there are some hoops to jump through
The key fob works great and is very sturdy after you jump through a couple of hoops. First, only a key shop would cut the key that is attached to the fob. The other places I check would only cut keys they sold you. Second, the "chip" that is required to start the car, at least in my case, was not part of the larger electronic part in the center that locks and unlocks doors. The chip was a small rectangular object in a little pocket in the broken plastic fob. You must pry it out of the pocket and insert it into the empty pocket in the new fob. This requires a little pick kind of tool or very small screwdriver. But after it was in place, it worked great and was much more sturdy than the original which held the metal key part in the fob with just a small screw.

Doesn’t work for 2011 Camry
Didn’t work for 2011 Camry. I got the key cut and moved the chip over. Unfortunately the key is too long which places the chip too far away and causes the new key to not work.

Case comes with Key attached
Also, if you want to skip the reprogramming you can take the chip out of your old key fob. This is different than the button transponder in the middle of the key. Have a locksmith cut a new key for you BEFORE you do the next step. The chip is a little black rectangle wedged in the key case itself. You’ll see the empty space in the new key fob. I basically had to beak the old key case to remove it but that was ok for me.Bonus points if you are able to give your locksmith the code for your key. Or they can just copy your old one.Good luck. It worked for me!

key blade is unremovable
the uncut blade in this key housing can't be replaced with your original one. even if it were removable it's not the same shape(i only know this becuase it snapped out when i tried). fully useless if you are trying to move a working blade & electronics into a new housing. i'm going to rate 4 stars because it broke easily but presumably would be fine if i had bought it for the—aparrently only—intended use case: fully re-keying a lost or destroyed fob.

Your key may contain a chip
Worked great for my 2007 Toyota Camry!!Do your research! Your old fob may contain a chip that needs to be transferred to the new fob along with the circuit board, buttons, blade, etc. so be sure not to throw away the original fob until this chip has been removed. In my case, the “chip” was glued in place, so I was very careful not to damage it during the removal process . Alternatively, you can pay a professional to remove and/or install the chip.
