Get 2 copies and Talk through the Tips Together
I am a youth pastor and substitute teach in a public school. I read this while subbing and some students asked what I was reading. I was able to use the section I was reading to share how a stranger had found a teen online by using their social media. It led to a short, but poignant talk about privacy settings on our social media pages. It may seem simple and obvious to us as adults, but teens need those reminders or to learn about it for the first time. My suggestion - buy 2 copies. Get one for you as a parent and one for your teen. Commit to reading 1 or 2 tips a week and discussing them over dinner. It can be a good way to learn where your teen is at and an opportunity to share from your experiences. An excellent resource with some very simple reading, ever for those of us who are a little slower at reading.

SUCH A GREAT RESOURCE!!
Jonathan McKee knows teenagers. I've had the privilege of hearing him speak multiple times, and not only does he know teenagers, but he knows their parents. He works as hard as anyone I've known in 22 years of student ministry to stay current with teen culture, which we all know is rapidly changing every day. This book is an incredible resource. Not only have I gleaned wisdom from it, my 16 year old daughter told me she found it extremely helpful as she works to make good choices with social media. GET THIS BOOK. The cost of not educating our kids is simply too great to not do everything we can.

who is not very smart in his social media habits
I got this book for my 15 year old son, who is not very smart in his social media habits. I was surprised that he picked it up on his own when I left it out and read through several of the chapters right away. It caught his interest and kept it. I like the format of the book, each chapter topic is relevant to today's teens and has a story or situation that is relatable, then goes further in to asking some in-depth, thought provoking questions that are great for a parent-child conversation. It is a quick read, full of wisdom and insight. I hope my boys will take the information and use it!

Excellent book before teens get social media accounts!
I made my teenager read this before she was allowed to get a social media account! She could tell me all about the rules she thought she should have. She still needs guidance on her account to learn, and I still monitor her activity. But this book gave her good insight into WHY there are rules for what she can post and what info should be kept private. Love it!!!!

Should be required reading when you give your kid a phone
This covers it all. I gave it to my 14 year old when he got his first phone. I had him read a chapter, then I would read and we would discuss or really, I would just ask what he learned and if I had anything to add I would. We haven't had any fights about the rules I set for the phone. He knows why he can't have snapchat and other similar apps. He knows why his phone has to charge upstairs from 10 pm until morning while he's in his room downstairs and he hasn't argued at all. Highly recommmend.

Fantastic book!
If you work with teens or you are teen, this is the book for you to buy! Jonathan does a great job communicating the realities of the benefits and downfalls found in social media in a practical and engaging way. It is funny and witty but also cuts to the quick on today's most used avenue of communication for teens. McKee is an expert in this area and communicates wonderfully.

Good points, heavy religious underpinnings
I should have read the reviews prior to purchasing this book - Please take note this book has excellent content in it regarding social media, but it has heavy Christian religious undertones in it. The actual tips and advice are very good, useful, and meaningful, but all content is related to a bible verse or Christianity in some aspect. I do not appreciate this; I would have preferred a book with just the content - Not everything has to be linked to Christianity or the bible. So, buyer beware - If you are any other religion besides Christianity... this book is not for you! This book is designed for those who believe in the faith of Christianity - If you practice Islam, Buddhism, or Judaism (to name a few), this book is definitely not for you!
