Disappointing.
I really liked this flashlight when I first got it. It's not the brightest flashlight out there but 200 lumens is good enough. (Now they got the 320 ones for the same price). I didn't particularly like the pattern the light gave off at close distance. You have to see it to understand; but, it doesn't make a different.I have had a big problem with the light since then though, however. I cycled through one set of batteries before they started to die and it clicked into this low setting. I replaced the batteries and the light worked for about a day and then clicked back into this low setting. I thought I got a bad batch of batteries and tried them in my other lights. They worked fine.I tried contacting surefire through email and have no received a reply. I may try calling soon. I know surefire is a good company and this light is definitely well constructed. I think it was just a lemon. Can't say though.

I started to for a better light for work when I began driving a bus ...
I started to for a better light for work when I began driving a bus last year. The company I worked for at the time had us doing pre-trip and post-trip inspections with a hand held computer that had a built in light with five little dim LED lights...they SUCKED. I've owned this light for about 4 months and love it. Its been dropped, tossed, used in rain, etc. and it just keeps going. Battery span tends to be about 2 weeks. Only downfall with this product is sometimes after holstering the light will turn on if you don't turn the cap far enough back. You'll know once you feel the warmth! I use a SOE holster.Great little bedside light as well. I plan on purchasing a few more to keep in my vehicles and around the house.

few available batteries
The G2XTactical has my desired features for a tactical light: single push on off (not click on, click off), significantly bright to temporarly "blind" someone. Feels solid enough to strike with and light enough to cary around. Problem I'm finding is batteries. I want to by rechargables with a decent run time (>30 minutes), but every battery I find says "not for use in Surefire lights - do not use in surefire flashlights." Perhaps they should make it just slightly larger to accomodate the readily available 18650 batteries that can deliver 3000mAh vs the K2 brand LiFePo4 ones sold by surefire that deliver 650mAh. I also purchased the UltraFire C1 CREE Q5-WC 230 lumen for $14.95 which takes 123a or 18650. It is almost as bright (5% different), has similar light distribution, also tactical design, but it's click on click off. If you don't want it for truely emergency tactics where a silent and rapid on/off is needed, I see it as a much better purchase due to the cost.

excellent light !
Small, light weight, seems very durable. I will use it as a tactical light with a handgun, so I like the touch button for getting a quick 'flash sight picture' without the light staying on. You can adjust the amount of pressure for this by turning the on-off cap. The light output is terrific! Even without a strobe, hitting someone in the eyes with this beam will momentarily blind them from probably up to 20 ft away. I cannot measure the actual lumens, but I believe 200 is accurate. No fancy settings or colors or power levels, but a burst of blinding light when you need it and a powerful flashlight for normal use.

Spot light
This light is well built and solid, its beam is a flood beam with a hot spot very clean beam. This light will light things up at 50 yards like day light. And even go out to a hundred yards, i really like nitrolon body its very nice because this light gets warm fast, and nitrolon body feels much nicer when its cold out, allot of the police in my town have this light. Sure fire says 2 hours of tactical run time, but i had it running 4 hours straight and it still had enough power to light up a small room.

Very Bright!!!
I've had a surefire defender in the past but it had broke after 4 years of good service. The G2x has 200 lumen output which is crazy bright. The only cons I have are that the whole flashlight is a bit bulky. A lot more bulky than the actual defender and the rear push button of the G2x doesn't have a continuous "on" switch. In order to keep the light continuously on you must screw in the base. So I give the light 3 starts because of the cons vs. just one Pro which is the light is very very bright.

Good stuff
If its going on a gun. Or just to walk around with and taking a beating then what other light would you buy. Surfire makes very good durible light. 200 lumen on surfire is as bright or brighter than a 320 lumen O-light. the momentary on is push in the button and if you want it to stay on you screw the switch cap on just a little more. Good light, Yes I would recomend this to a friend.

Excellent Flashlight for any activity!
As an individual who has gone through a lot of flashlights for portable use, Surefire stands out like night and day. The G2X is the lightest and most powerful flashlight one can get anywhere. Not to mention very strong. Many of you may shy away from the price, but it is well worth it.Also if you want a better idea of the overall concept and design of the flashlight you probably want to check out SureFire's website.

Why don't more people know about these torches? They're great!
I have been weighing up for ages whether to buy one of these. A friend has had one for years and I've always been impressed with how good they are but as they are not cheap I've avoided buying one until now.I'm so happy with the purchase, although they are more expensive than other torches, you get what you pay for. I use mine at work and its a god send - it allows me to see so much further than I can with any other torch and makes me more effective in my work. I just need to keep it away from the other half - now he's seen it, he wants one too!Would recommend to others. A shame though that it doesn't come with a holder.

Powerful but small.
I bought this after seeing some Surfire Torches owned by friends. I was delighted with the quality and performance of the G2X Pro. The batteries are reasonably priced and last well. The size on the torch is also great to keep in your pocket. If you want a top performer, this is the torch for you. Expensive compared with most other torches but worth it in my opinion.

Schockresistent
