This Scribing Tool is just a job, especially If you are scribing shelves in an alcove in a 15th century cottage, where the walls are curved and at multiple angles and you’ve got to go round beams. !!See pictures attached.Just make sure to tighten up the screws very tightly before you lift it out of the alcove to transfer to your shelf for scribing. This is a little tricky as sometimes the tightening screws are right in a corner, but I found wearing gloves helps with the grip.Of course, the little rulers are solid, so your scribing line is only going to be a guide, but it gets you too within a few millimetres. Just allow for planing to get an exact fit.Very useful tool for those unusual jobs.

I really like this product as I am working on some bay windows and having a transferable angle for marking materials in quite a time saver.I almost gave this product 5* however when two ends are fully extended forming an L with an intent for a 90 degree angle there is a centring line missing. When forming a T there is a line that can be used line up with the inner edge of the guiding track, lining this up with the 90 degree mark does not produce a 90 degree angle.In trying to describe a solution I realised that only the marking mentioned regarding a T functions correctly. The gradient markings are measured to the centre of the track but are to close to the end of the track. When parts are extended it is clear that the angles cannot be lined up.I have ordered 2 more to assist me with longer distances and will hope for the product to be improved in the future when I will gladly buy a 4th and update my review. Copying of shape does not require me to know the angles but then this product has more limits than it could.
