Great pump, works for in-ground pool despite description
As long as your expectations are in line with the low price tag, then you'll be happy with this pump. It's a light device that's very easy to use out of the box. It comes with a 16 foot drainage tube AND a handy hose attachment, in case the tube is too short. I ended up using a 50 foot garden hose instead of the drainage tube and it worked perfectly (although it likely drained slower than it would with the short, wide hose).I used it on an in-ground pool. The pump took about two days to bring down the water level by about five feet. My pool service company's commercial pump would do the job faster, but it would cost hundreds of dollars for the service visit (along with the annoyance of scheduling them to come). I'd choose this little pump any day.I was initially hesitant to buy the pump because it says it's for above-ground pools and can't go deeper than 4 feet. That was not my experience. I put it in the 10-foot deep end of my in-ground pool (the power chord is more than long enough for that), and the pump slowly but surely did the job. If I were draining the entire pool, the pump would probably take closer to five days. If you're not in a hurry, the low price and ease of use is very appealing.

But other then that perfect product.
No complaints from me or my husband. He said it do exactly what it's supposed to do. He just wishes it was more top heavy in the water. But other then that perfect product.

This pump is sloooowly.
I bought this pump based on the claimed speed of 950 gallons of water per hour. I have a 450 gallon hot tub, so I figured it would drain it in a little less than 1/2 hour. This is the first time I have used it, do to an unanticipated change in my circumstances. It has been going for 1.5 hours now, and I anticipate at least another half hour to 45 minutes before it is done. It drains the water, but sloooowly.

Fantastic Works GREAT
I bought this to drain the last 1/2 inch of water in my above ground pool. The water that is below the plug, that you can never seem to get out. This pump worked beautifully! I then started to use it to drain the pool, at the same time the plug was pulled. Makes it go SO MUCH FASTER! I am so happy I bought this. The price at the time was well worth it because it saved so much hassle! Where it takes almost an entire day to fill the pool (15 ft round, 4 ft high), it only takes a few hours to drain it using this pump. I really love it. CMcGuire

Simplicity, works as promised
Worked flawlessly, highly recommended! Used it to drain our 18' above ground pool.

OK flow-rate to empty a pool efficiently in a reasonable time,..don't expect the maximum GPH rating!
Here in Vermont we broke some long established heat records this summer and our 15 foot Intex was used a great deal! Now in September it was time to finally and reluctantly drain our pool.In the past I used a submersible small capacity pump to drain our 2200 or so gallons out of the pool over a 5-6 hour period. period. It took a long while considering the small pump rate of that pump.In trying this Intex pool pump for the first time, I measured the flow rate before proceeding to put it to work to drain our pool. Our pool is 4 feet and my drain connection coming over the top of the pool was a decline all the way down to the ground using the included pipe plus a few 8 foot lengths of 4 inch widthy white drain pipe to get the water where I wanted it to empty. My measured time and quarts pulled out by the pump was 1.3 gallons per seconds or about 80 gallons a minute or about 480 gallons per hour. The up to 950 GPH rating of this pump assumes a shorter water height of probably 3 or less feet. The math here for 2200 gallons/480 gph for my setup seems to suggest about a 4 1/2 hour drain time for a 5 foot heigh of water level and a decline for the hose connection. Any additional incline more then necessary for the drain hose will certainly reduce flow more so try to keep the hose as straight as possible all the way to ground.Using solid white 8 foot pvc pipe sure makes it easier for setup since it won't sag or bend at all and is easy to set up for a straight shot decline all the way to the exit point of flow.So not a bad pump and still faster flow then our old one, but, not even close to the 950 GPH rating this pump suggests. If you are ok with a 350-550 GPH rating, then this pump should work fine for you at a reasonable price.Given this pump does not get used other then perhaps once per season, I'm hoping it will offer long life and good reliability.
