Groov-e Boombox Portable CD Player with Radio & Headphone Jack - Blue

Having written a very negative review the other day I am very happy to be able to update it more positively. I bought this in April as a birthday present for my 6 year old daughter, so it was a couple of weeks before it was used, then a couple more weeks slipped by before we realised that it was faulty (it didn't work quite right when it was first switched on, but we thought maybe there was something we were doing wrong). It wasn't used much for a couple of weeks as the kids were spending most of their time outdoors, eventually we got round to taking a closer look, tried playing the radio, sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't, had to keep switching the machine on and off at the mains. The CD player simply didn't work after the first few uses. As we were outside of the Amazon returns timeframe I had to contact the supplier, I did this using their online contact form, which didn't work very well. So I thought I had logged a complaint and that it had been ignored. However, after writing my original review I decided to have one final go and emailed them directly, at 10pm, I received a response within 5 minutes apologising for the unit being faulty and offering a replacement, which arrived within 36 hours!So I eat my words, excellent service and a lovely user friendly and appealing product for a younger audience.I have knocked 1 star off simply for the inconvenience caused, but all in all I am really quite pleased with it.

I was looking for a cd player for my daughter to listen to music and audio books, and I was surprised how few of them had a headphone socket. Isn't this essential for a children's cd player!? I finally found this one and despite mixed reviews I took a chance and got it. So far very happy. I does what I was needing it for. It doesn't play super loud but perhaps this a good thing. Yes the cd skips if your younger child bangs on the top of the player but besides that it works a treat. The colour isn't as shiny purple as pictured. It's more a blue purple but nonetheless daughter was thrilled. For twenty quid I am happy.

I specifically chose this player as i needed one with a remote control, but the range with the remote is so limited it's pretty much useless, you have to be standing within arms length and above the unit for it to work. The player itself is of okay quality bearing in mind how cheap it is and it is very lightweight and compact. I returned the item due to the inadequate use of the remote and have to say the company responded immediately and positively to my request and issued a refund including the cost of return post without delay so would not hesitate to recommend them or use them again for future purchases

I am very pleased with this portable radio/CD player. The radio reception is good, though the display for tuning is a little hard to see, we basically rolled up and down to find channels.This was a present for our 8 year old, and it is a good size and weight for him to carry around - we used it at his birthday party which was outside and the sound/volume was good enough for the children to play games to. It was bumped about quite a bit, but the Cd did not 'jump'.The controls were also no problem for our son to use.Haven't had it long enough yet to see how long the batteries (not included!) will last, though!

I bought this CD player for my son for Christmas, so he has only been listening to it since end of December. I bought one of these a couple of years ago for another of my children and it's brilliant - easy for children to use and still going very strong. However, this one has become very temperamental and now it is barely working - it keeps turning the CD's off after just a few minutes (my son uses it particuarly for bedtime stories - so it is not very relaxing when the story keeps stopping). I've tried cleaning the CD's and changing to a different CD but it's become apparent that the CD's are not at fault here. It says I cannot return this for a refund as it's past the 30 day return period, but I'm hoping the seller will contact me to discuss a way of returning it as it's not OK for it to be faulty after less then two months use......... PLEASE HELP!!EDIT: having only now read all the reviews on amazon, I can see that this is a very common problem. Wish I'd read them before purchasing this. PLEASE can someone from amazon contact me to arrange a return/refund? I'd like to buy something else as an alternative on amazon, but not happy to have wasted £25(ish) on a faulty product - I NEED A REFUND first please please amazon!

wanted the RED one as depicted - but we got a silver one! Sound not good on the cd playback and had to replace box with new one which then sounded fuzzy and had to turn up to drown out the first noise, so not good buy

Great CD player.Brilliant and simple to use for children of most ages. My nephew absolutely loved it.Sturdy construction.Great item. Made a good gift.I purchased this as a gift and had it sent directly to their house. As such I have not personally seen these items for myself so am therefore unable to comment in detail about the items. Purchased this for a young child to have music on whilst asleepEasy to use,Sound quality is ok to good.No issues with CD jumping due to robustness, but in all fairness for the price and what we want it for it is not a major consdieration anyway.Comes in different coloursThe repeat/random programme works wellDue to the price as compared to other CD players, if in the not to distant future it gets broken ( as it will with kids) im not going to be so upset as compared to if it was a more expensive item.Overall happy with the purchase
