I've used these for years and have always been very impressed. They used to be under the Smiths brand. However they are still just as good and very reliable.

Easy to work out how it worked even before I read the instructions lol. The little pins are a bit fiddly to insert & you have to make sure the hole you want is far enough away from the current/actual time pointer when you try & get it in, ie insert pins in the on & off positions you require at an actual time well away from them. 1) set actual time by turning front with pointer until it points to it, 2) insert pin or pins to turn "on" into the INNER row of holes nearest the required time (if you want pinpoint accuracy, this is not the switch for you!), 3) insert pin/s to turn "off" into the OUTER row of holes, & 4) plug in & turn on immediately as the actual time pointer only works when power on. Had it few months & works perfectly.

It keeps good time and is very quiet- good value for the money.

Just started using it so no idea on its life expectancy yet. Having read the reviews before purchasing, i can all but agree with the ones saying that it is a tad bit noisy, there is some sort of purring noise happening, i presume it is from the clock dial part of the device. Otherwise straight forward to use and it does the job well. One device can be set to go off at three different intervals so it is handy when away on holiday. As i will use it mainly when away on holiday, the noise is not an issue for me so i recommend it.
