Pretty Decent...
As a designer, I wanted a mouse that was comfortable to use and not over-spec'd with a plethora of buttons I'd never be likely to use. This mouse is pretty much ideal (for a right-hander, at least). The forward and back buttons on the side are useful for everyday browsing, without ever getting in the way of other tasks - in fact I often forget they're there. There's very little danger of me pressing them by mistake - and the contours are easily distinguishable by touch alone. The scrollwheel works just fine, although the scroll-mode button above it has been accidentally clicked once or twice; but this is really a minor issue. I use it primarily on a wooden surface which has seen a fair bit of use, so isn't necessarily the smoothest area to work on, but the mouse glides very nicely, for the time being anyway. My only gripe would be the left and right "click" sounds - the action itself is fine, but I can't help but feel it's just a little louder than it needs to be. Maybe I've been spoiled by other, quieter devices, or maybe I'm just being overly critical, but it is something I've noticed. All in all, I'm more than pleased with it.

Fantastic while it lasted
I've typically stuck to Logitech because they seem to construct their products from some hellspawn combination of kevlar-lined concrete, coated in titanium. I previously had a Logitech budget optical mouse that survived some considerable abuse being thrown in the bottom of a rucksack and finally outlived it's longevity after 5 years when a bottle of water split in my bag. I purchased the M500 as an upgrade and initially appreciated the ergonomic design and decent weight of it; the mouse feels substantial and well-built whilst being comfortable enough to use for extended periods without any real fatigue. So far so good.Unfortunately the buttons began to work intermittently until they finally cut out altogether after about a month. Doing a little tinkering, I discovered the microswitches themselves had failed and promptly replaced them; the mouse functioned smoothly once again. After another month the issue recurred and doing some testing, I found that this time the cable was at fault. It's a shame because this is a very comfortable mouse with exceptional movement definition that was a marvel to use with work, internet usage and gaming. Unfortunately it's not nearly as robust as a mouse 1/3 of the price and I'm relatively certain I'll revert back to the budget option.

Good multi buttoned product.
Works well with lots of button options to choose from. Particularly like the scroll function, as the wheel can be released to freely spin up or down like the clappers - no time messing about with top/bottum of pages! Sits comfortably in the hand and has a soft textured material grip.

Buttons stop working
I have an old Logitech MX510 I've been using for several years as a full time graphic designer, which is still going strong.Less than a year ago I needed a new mouse for a home set up as I prefer a corded mouse with full functionality (I'm not keen on Apple's mice or trackpads for professional design work). So as Logitech no longer make the MX510 I decided to buy the M500, having researched every corded mouse on the market. The problem with buying a mouse is that you don't know how you're going to get on with one until you've tried it for a long enough period of time. At first I quite liked this mouse, due to the accelerated scroll wheel which is very handy when working on a 27 inch display but did feel the overall quality of the product felt cheap compared to my trusty old MX510.Over the last month I noticed the buttons seemed to feel as though they were sticking - particularly the left click. At first I thought this might be down to me but it got progressively worse to the point where it is now unusable! I'm unable to click and drag as the mouse either fails to respond or decides to double click instead. Having tried installing the latest driver to no avail I searched online to find the problems I'm encountering are common. Apparently the build quality of this product is poor, particularly the switches used in the buttons. They wear out quickly.I've contacted Logitech and am awaiting a response. I'm hoping they will replace it as it is still under warranty but I will aim to sell the replacement and look for a mouse that is reliable like my old MX510.My advice would be to avoid this mouse, particularly if you plan to use it on a daily basis as it isn't likely to last.

Mightier than the apple
I have had two "mighty" mice for my i Mac, the first packed up within weeks and the second within a few months. I was therefore looking for a quality bit of kit that lived up to the quality of my i Mac and the programmes on it. I also wanted one that did not need batteries (ie corded). The logitech 500 is very accurate and ergonomically designed, which makes it very comfortable to use. The fast scroll wheel is great when scrolling through long web pages. This is the best mouse I have ever used and is particularly useful on photoshop where accuracy is crucial. Software has to be downloaded to enable all the functions, this is really straightforward however the basic functions work straight out of the box. The mouse was £25 from Amazon a real bargain for such a quality product

Mouse Scroll Wheel is Alive!
Using the scroll wheel, scrolling it towards me (to go down the page) - it then starts to spin in the opposite direction on its own accord! Sending me back up the page! You would expect more from companies like logitech.
