GREAT kit, FULL documentation, NO hidden extras required.
This package is great value for money. It contains all the bits for completing more than 40 different projects, all of which are included in the supplied CD.The CD contains lots of extras - there's several PDF books in a folder called "Arduio Learning Materials" for teaching you about the Arduino and lots of Arduino projects. Also there's the Arduino IDE (for writing programs and uploading them to the device) in this folder in a ZIP file called "Arduino-1.0-windows.zip". I'd advise you to visit the main Arduino website, and download the FREE latest version - because it will contain recent bug fixes, and new features.I found in the main (root) folder that there were instructions in French, Italian, German and Japanese if you want to learn Arduino in those languages. There's several QK folders... these are "Kit" folders that contain a mini group of projects - all of which are detailed in the Doc files in each of the folder.I found several of the Doc files in the QK folders are full sized tutorials for ALL the projects you can do, rather than just the ones mentioned in the relevant QK folder - it's not a terrible issue, it just means you need to do a quick text search to find the relevant project in the document. In each of the QK folders many of them also have libraries for running the projects - such as a display library for driving the dot-matrix red LED display. As well as a code folder, with lots of examples for the Arduino compiler! Awesome! No copying and pasting code from the kits Doc file if you don't want to..PDE files are just plain text files - which contain code that opens in the Arduino IDE once it's installed and you double click the file. There's a good range of modules, and components and I found all of them well made, and not damaged even when they were packed in together in the little box.The pack is cheaper than others in this range because some (maybe only 2 or 3) of the devices are not mounted on circuit boards, so you have to build some circuits on the bread board, and some bits are not included (the PIR infra red movement sensor is not in this pack)One example of having to build the little circuit is the dot-matrix LED display (big square with big 7x8 dots on it) - it and it's driver chip are not on a circuit board - you have to push the supplied driver chip into the little breadboard, and wire it up onto the pins of the display via the supplied male to female wires. It's NOT a big job, and as we're making circuits already - well, it's practice! It might be a project you want to do, rather than have it all prepared before hand.(The driver chip converts data arriving on 2 Arduino pins into LOTS of outputs to connect to the dot-matrix input pins - serial data into matrix output.)You can power most projects via the USB cable powering the Arduino - the square battery is for the motor projects. There's lots of fun projects - make the Arduino an IR controller receiver! Make it an ultrasonic distance detector, a thermometer, a shop sign, an accurate stepper motor controller (once you've learned this one, buy some more motors and armatures and make a robot arm!).. plus at least 40 more projects!I found copying the CD to my computer was a good idea - I'd forgotten just how slow CD's are!If you don't have a CD drive you can email the supplier and they'll supply you with the documents online. One last thing - it's a puzzle to put everything back in the box! It's been perfectly packed so you'll find you'll run out of space when you try putting them back.I had several little cardboard boxes - which I've used to put related components away, all the LED's in one, all the sensors in another and so on. It's a great time saver.Overall it's a great kit. It's good value for money based on the products in it, the pieces are good quality, and it all comes with relevant tutorials.Everything you need is contained - there's no hidden extras you have to buy.

Absolutely excellent little Arduino starter kit. Thoroughly recommend it.
Can't believe what a great little kit this is. It contains everything you need to get started with the Arduino, there are various learning materials (in English, Japanese, French, German and Italian), there are code samples and library code. You do need to work out which kit you have - as they supply the details/part lists etc - for all of their kits on the disc. Unfortunately, although we're all used to it now, the manual is written in "chinglish" so you'll just have to get used to that. All of the parts come in a neat plastic box into which all of the parts (just) fit - not sure I'll ever get them all back in though.

Great kit and support. Highly recommended.
Great kit. Fully of quality parts. Instructions are a little hit and miss to start with until you get the hang of the layout of the supplied cd. Even got an email after delivery from Quimat with a link to even more documentation and tutorials to try.Only thing I noticed is there is absolutely no mention of the bread board power unit that comes in the kit anywhere in any of the tutorials or documents even though it is in the package and on every single version of the parts list.

Has everything that is required to learn about Arduino programming
Has everything that is required to learn about Arduino programming, The case is handy and you can see all components. There are no requirements for soldering the cables.

good
great for beginners. i only wish that there were pre-soldered wires on all of the components (variable resistor was un-soldered and a couple others but can't remeber which ones). overall great value for money and came with detailed and comprehensive instructions for a beginner.

Good geek fun!
Hard to argue with this kit for the price. Hours of fun. The included PDF projects are best to useless, in my opinion. Hard to follow and far from complete. Get a book.
