Needs a connected load to work
Replaced an existing 12V AC supply only to find that this one didn't appear to work. After a bit of reading it was stated (online) that it required a 20W connected load to operate. As it transpired all of my G10 lamps were dead so when I replace one with a new 20W lamp it fired up nicely. Put it all together on my lighting termination box and now it works great (once I get new G10 lamps of course!). For info: polarity of the Lives and Neutrals does not seem to matter which is likely why there are no markings in that regard. In my pic I have the wires going out the base of the unit directly into my terminal box so they are not seen - wipes out the warranty no doubt but its a tiny bit tidier. Feels like a good quality robust little unit though someone has seen fit to make it in a colour resembling old smokers fingers. Anyway, good item. If you have a choice, pick this one.

Replacement lighting transformer.
I bought this unit to replace an outdoor patio lighting transformer. I am more than happy with this purchase which has a good technical specification. The item arrived on time from a quality supplier. The price was fair and I can recommend this 230/12V Transformer.

An elegant lamp saved from the tip
I have a beautiful stainless steel standard reading lamp which has served me many years. It had a long dimmer switch which failed. There was no way that could be repaired. Then it failed completely and I soon discovered the bulbs were OK. I was on the point of throwing it away when I saw your ad. It was the same size as the old one and I replaced it myself. It won't dim of course but that doesn't matter. Nowback in service and I am more than happy!

It works but there's no markings
Its all well and good having this item but the 'leaflet' states to connect the live and neutral to the respective terminals but there is neither a diagram to show which is which, nor is there a single marking on or inside the transformer so, its a 50/50 if you get it right! Plus, when you rate it, what is 'sheerness' and 'thickness' and what do they have to do with a transformer?!

Didn’t work powering 3x 7w LED MR16 12v AC/DC
Was incompatible with the new bulbs I bought to go with this unit. 3 x 7 watt so giving a 21VA load so should be fine but all the bulbs do is flash at about a 1 second rate. The bulbs work with other power units. Other bulbs work with this power unit. But in my case the bulbs and power unit are not compatible. Their written specs are compatible but their electronics do not work together. I think it would have been safer if I had bought a DC power unit which is probably more tolerant to different loads.Probably just bad luck but I am out of pocket.

It works as advertised.
I used this to replace a blown toroid transformer for a 50W halogen downlighter because its not a highly used light, and so going LED would have been more expensive as I have a lot of halogen bulbs.I mounted it in the loft where it can stay cool. The connections are small and fiddly for old eyes and fingers, but it works great.Remember these things are not designed for anything other than feeding a reasonably resistive load. I see people have had problems using them outside that - so don't.
