Simple to install. Effectively "always on" and ready to read QR Codes.
I use 3x5 cards to organize my todos and I have software that prints a QR Code on the back of the cards as an index. That way I can scan the card and go to the entry in my files quickly. This reader stays plugged in to my USB hub and using the keyboard emulation, I simply need to waive my card over the reader. The reader detects if there is a change in light level and will begin scanning, so it is effectivly "always on". I have two of these now. One for my office at work and another for my home office.

Serial mode is helpful
Works well to scan my QR codes, and I like the optional serial communication mode that doesn't rely on keyboard input focus.

Not up to my expectations
I bought this for a grocery store but it didn’t met the requirements. It’s good for slow scanning but when you have a line of customers and want to scan the products quicker it will take time for it to read the barcode. I was not satisfied with it my order scanner which I also bought from Amazon was much better then this one.

SUPERB HANDS-FREE BARCODE SCANNER! LOVE IT!
I sell on different platforms, including eBay, and I always look for tech items to make my work easier. This proved to be one of them. I have owned several handheld wired and wireless barcode scanners over the past decade. I was looking for something that I could scan with that was hands-free. This one has operated flawlessly, scanning even small barcodes of my products. The ball scanner makes it great for when I am not at my desk and need to take it to scan inventory.
