Love This Printer
I bought this on the recommendation of a client who said it was the first printer they had for their business. That Brother still makes it after 13 years should tell you how good it is! It does everything I need and I am so happy to have a real business printer now! The set up was easy and it scans to my computer perfectly! I think it is a great price point for what you get. Ink Jet printers tend to run pretty expensively for ink refills but I don’t use color that much and set it to grayscale unless I need deep, dark ink. That helps conserve and save money! If it lasts as long as my clients did, then I’ll be a happy camper for quite a while!

This is great for a busy home office.
I use this printer in my home office and it seems to be working well. The ink cartridges seem to be on the pricy side to replace. This printer is heavy to lift. It prints well with any job from the computer to the phones we use.

Takes a bit
Took a bit of doing getting this set up correctly and about an hour on the phone, but it works great now. My previous wide format was approx 25 years old so it was time.

Great printer with a lot of features, but make sure you have space for it!
I absolutely love this new Brother printer. It's a powerhouse and can handle everything I threw at it. Double-sided printing, faxing, scanning, copying, etc. it does these tasks with ease. I also love the fact that I can copy, scan, fax, and print legal sized paper as well. The print quality is also amazing on this printer. I've had amazing prints from it so far and can't complain there. While I don't do too much work with legal sized stuff, it was still a great benefit to be able to not worry about paper size when using this printer. The wi-fi printing has also been incredible. I love that my phone connects to it quickly and all my laptops/wi-fi devices have no problems printing to it.The only qualm I have with this printer is that it's massive and you can't really place it in a small area. Be very careful to read the dimensions and make sure you have the space to accommodate this printer. However, all things considered, I would buy this printer again in a heartbeat. I've had an excellent experience so far and I plan to use it for a long time.

HUGE INK PROBLEM!!!
I started a small printing company and bought a brother 5855. It worked well so I decided to purchase a second printer to use as a backup. This was the only one being offered on installments. I should have realized right there that something was amiss but thinking it would work just like the 5855 I decided to purchase. Boy was I wrong!!!1. The ink cartridges (402) are smaller than the 406 used in the 5855.2. Runs out of ink extremely quickly!!!3. The printer has a permanent memory that records every cartridge you put in.4. This means you cannot reuse a cartridge even if you refill it or swap it out with another one first.5. You cannot buy cartridges in bulk and stock since they carry a batch code and the printer will not recognize a new cartridge if it carries the same code as the old one.6. You have to wait until Brother or whoever came up with this rubbish to decide to manufacture another batch of cartridges with a different code in order to purchase and again you run into problems 3 through 5.7. Looked at ALL the reviews available before purchasing and no one had mentioned the ink problem.8. What good is a printer if you cannot print???WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!

So far, so good
Printers seem to change their abilities to connect with operating systems monthly. (Most recently, just nine months after I'd bought an HP, there was no way to update the driver, from the manufacturer. What a waste of a few hundred dollars.) I don't need the color, and haven't used it, so I can't speak about that. But the ability to print large format on fairly heavy paper has been great. I'm just hoping the driver doesn't become obsolete before this is posted.

Brother Corporation is unhelpful
I run a small business from my home and needed a printer with 11x17 capability. I had a previous Brother printer that was a great product but died of old age. The MFC-J5340Dw looked like it fit the bill. Amazon did a great job and got the printer to me quickly. After I set it up I realized that there was only one paper tray and I would have to unload and reload it each time I changed paper sizes. No problem I thought, I would just order another tray from Brother so I could have one for each paper size and change them out as needed. I explained my problem to Brother through Chat, email and finally a phone call. Long story short, they refused to sell me an extra paper tray. I suppose that if the original tray ever fails or breaks you have to buy a complete new printer, or maybe just take your business elsewhere.
