I'll start by saying 3 stars is a generous rating. The item itself is good looking. I like how it looks and how it fits my space. But other reviewers are correct in saying it is very difficult to put together. It took my husband and I over 2 hours, and we're very competent people. I have an award in furniture woodworking. We know how to put furniture together and how pieces should fit. I bought this looking for a quick solution that looked decent. (I'm completely shocked at reviews that say one person put it together by themselves in 45 minutes. Really??? More power to you if that review is real. And congratulations on receiving the unicorn piece that lined up properly)The pieces did NOT line up properly. And the same screw types did not fit equally. We had to find which individual screw caught in the threads for each hole. It took a lot of time playing musical screws, and a lot of cussing. Holes did not line up. The seat certainly does fit slightly off with a gap on the side.The one piece we could not figure out at all was the springed seat hinge piece. It did not function at all. We chose to leave it off, so the seat does not stay up when you lift it. We have to hold it up or else it falls. Luckily, we haven't used the storage area yet, but this is an issue.Only giving 3 stars because I like how it looks and it fits my space nicely. A review on the assembly process would be a solid 2 stars. Maybe 1, but I was able to figure it out, so 2 stars is appropriate. If I had the time and resources, I would have had an easier time building one from scratch.

Received promptly, very well packaged, very sturdy. I always tear off a fresh piece of packing tape to "grab" any little stray styrofoam pieces...saves much clean-up. I'm a 75 year old widow whose sil would have put together for me, but I like to do what I can while I still can! I put the whole thing together by myself, but I won't admit how long it took me! Rested here and there as ol' Arthur was acting up. There were some challenges, but thought through them as I remembered what my late husband-woodworker had taught me. The one thing I could not do myself is to lift the top unit high enough to fit on bottom unit. As I didn't think my next door neighbor would like to be called at 4:00 am (I'm a night owl, not by choice) I just stood the top unit against a wall, cleaned up, called him at noon. He came over, we lifted it into place, and attached the four bolts, whalla! Done. Customer service was great and prompt. I was missing a few wood plugs and they graciously sent them out promptly. I've seen this particular one at over twice the price elsewhere and thought I could never afford it and who doesn't prefer solid hardwood! When I found this on Amazon at this current price, couldn't place the order soon enough. I love that there is room underneath for a shoe tray...don't want shoes in the storage bench getting it dirty. I love it, couldn't be happier with it, looks very high end. Got the cherry. Terrific value!

This has been a wonderful and elegant addition to my closet. I have a walk-in closet with sufficient room to include this. It transformed my closet and allows me to dress head to toe in my closet. The hooks are handy for hanging casual wear, jackets/coats, hoodies, and the shelf at the top is great for my hats. The storage box is perfect for extra blankets or other bedding and even cozy clothing that only comes out in winter.It's also pretty easy to put together. I was able to do by myself in about an hour. A second person obviously always makes it easier, but one person is sufficient. The material is heavy and quality and will serve you for a long time. The scores that hold the hooks in place are a little tricky, so make sure those get lined up straight.

I was looking for a entryway organizer that was a bit better than the ones that used a fake wood cardboard backing and the typical Ikea style assembly. I was impressed with the materials in this kit including the hardware. The main things I would want are clear instructions and everything lining up. This product did both. I ordered one as a test to make sure I am happy with it and now ordering 3 more.A hint. If you can get a better ratcheting allen driver, your hand will thank you as compared to using the supplied wrench. You will need a philips screwdriver and I recommend a flat one also. Some of the "nuts" on the allen head bolts are finicky to align right and a flat screwdriver will help. A hammer to motivate the ones that are a little tight will be a good thing. The wood plugs that cover the hardware can be pressed in by hand or you can tap with a plastic hammer...or a regular hammer with a bit of something to protect the finish.I also like they include one extra of many of the hardware bits, just in case. Pretty happy with this.

Unit was delivered with box open. It appeared to have been opened at some point and retaped. Apparently, the retaping didn't hold. Upon opening the box lid, several of the pieces on top appeared to have slid around (certainly to be expected with an open box). On inspection, some of the pieces had dings. My wife had been waiting for it, so I put it together anyway. It appeared that most of the dings would be hidden by other pieces once assembled. It worked out okay, but obviously the shipping could be a little better.

I usually don't take the time to write reviews but I just can't stop how much I love this thing. We moved into an apartment that did not have a coat closet near the entrance so I purchased this for all those little knickknacks that would otherwise end up on the floor or the couch ( my purse, our shoes, my dogs harness and leash etc). I also bought some black canvas cube thingies to go on top and three fit perfectly. I use these for less used items like gloves, scarves etc. My husband put this together so I can't really comment on that but he did not curse or get mad at it like he does with some furniture so I think it must've been pretty easy.

This quality piece of furniture did not disappoint. Sturdy in construction, easy to assemble, it is both elegant and perfectly suited to keep our entrance way uncluttered. Deep storage bench is a good size for umbrellas, boots or blankets. Upper shelf for decor or other mittens, hats etc. . We liked the slatted back as it gives it more of an airy look. Very happy with this purchase.

Fits perfect where I wanted it, and it was not difficult to put together. Caution: Make sure you put the ends of the bench on the right way or you will have to unscrew them and turn them right side up and out. LOL My granddaughter loves the idea of using the storage bench for her smaller toys. The bench can actually hold quite a lot.

Very satisfied with the Hall Tree and Storage Bench. Item is exactly what I expected from photo. Looks lovely in our entrance hall. The only tricky bit was the installation of the hinges for the bench top. The hinges didn't seem to fit the predrilled holes but we just followed the instructions and once the screws were tightened, the hinges flexed nicely to fit. This was not entirely intuitive however and while doing it, we were crossing our fingers the wood wouldn't get damaged. Set up took about an hour with 2 people.

I like it. Only thing that was a disappointment was I thought it was darker then what I got. The pics looked pretty dark and also it had a few chips on the wood

You definitely get what you pay for with this Hall Tree Storage Bench...Screws don't tighten, things don't line up, plus corners gouged. Would definitely not recommend this product. Had to give choose a star rating, however a "0" start rating was not acceptable.
