Good so far
Much brighter than I expected. Different "temperature" tints, the cool temp is nice and bright with an extremely slight and perfect hint of vintage amber. Motion detect works great, lights can stay on for variable length, from about 15 seconds to several minutes. Not sure yet if there is an override for that feature. There is a manual on/off button and about 5 feet of cord that leads to the light strip.

Easy Installation, Dimmable, Selectable Timer OFF, Day/Night Modes, 3,000k
I’ve always been intrigued by these light systems, but it wasn’t until I ran into this product that I decided to “take the plunge” as they say. Originally I considered running this strip under my kitchen cabinets, then changed my mind (that’s not to say that this light strip wouldn’t be a great under cabinet option for someone else). I settled on my basement staircase railing as having a greater need for supplemental lighting. This light strip is dimmable with 6 brightness levels, provides always ON or always OFF modes, the auto setting includes 6 timer OFF options from 10 seconds to 10 minutes, a “day mode” that allows the light strip to turn ON anytime it senses someone, and “night mode” keeping all activation to periods of darkness (night time or when room lights are out and there’s no natural light otherwise). The color temp on this version of the light strip is 3,000k (warm white) - there is also a cool white version (6,000k). This is an AC-powered system (despite what one of the diagrams claims) with no battery back-up. There is no remote to loose (I plan to set mine once and be done with it, so a remote isn’t necessary, although I can see a need for one otherwise), and can be cut to near-custom lengths every 1.97”.The fact that this light strip comes complete with a power source and controller is a big plus. I can’t see buying the strip then trying to figure out what third-party power source and controller will be compatible (granted that there are other all-in-one systems available).I haven’t installed this light strip yet, but I have been doing a bunch of measuring, planning, and reading (it takes me “forever” to get through this stage on everything I do - that’s my process). The next step is the “dry fitting” where I tape everything in place with painter’s tape, determine exact length, and test out (multiple times) the motion sensor range and angle of the sensor in relation to my staircase. The final stage will be doing the actual cutting, removing painter’s tape, adhering, and programming (settings). The settings for this light strip are a bit involved (don’t lose the instructions, I “SmackTagged” mine (on power adapter) for access well after I’ve lost the printed version). The only really negative issue is the sensor range. 100 degrees is less than I would prefer (a minimum of 140-150 degrees would be nicer, and of course 170-180 degrees would be ideal). Just putting the motion sensor flat against the wall is unlikely to sense someone on the first few steps at the top or bottom (if I was doing the under cabinet installation this wouldn’t be an issue) - so I’ll be running a whole lot of scenarios in the dry fitting stage. The 10’ reach is good for my application, but there again with a 16’ length of the light strip, 10’ is 6’ short of being able to sense someone at the far end of the strip even if inside the 100 degree motion sensor range. I will probably opt for positioning the motion sensor to favor the top of the staircase since traveling down is more likely to result in a fall. One star off for the limited range and I’ll update the star rating for motion sensing once I’ve gone through the testing phase. I will try to update with photos once I get through my process.

This is bright and useful
Intended to be under a guest bed so lights would turn on when guest got out of bed during the night, yet would not disturb others. This was difficult to set up to be responsive on both sides of the bed. However, this strip of light is PERFECT to use (with an extension cord) in rooms NOT on our generator when the power goes out (which is frequently - sometimes for days). We will then have access to areas like the attic without holding a flashlight, but only when it is dark and there is motion.

Motion-sensor, light-sensitive light you can put anywhere!
I got this for our garage. My wife has to leave for work early in the morning, and our garage is dark this time of year! The garage door opener light comes on when she opens the door, but it's on the opposite side and doesn't help that much with the steps. This light has been great! I plugged it in, mounted the sensor and stuck about two feet of the strip up opposite the door out of the kitchen. It comes on as soon as she opens the door and lights her way. It's easy to adjust the mode and the duration of how long the light stays on.The garage door opener on my side quit working a few years ago and I've never gotten around to fixing it (no, it isn't just a bad bulb), so the light is great for me, too. It comes on as soon as I pull my car in and stays on while I unload.Installation was a breeze, EXCEPT (and this is why it didn't get four stars), I could not figure out how to use the included connectors to make a 90-degree turn. There is no real explanation of how to open the connectors or how to orient the strips, and nothing I tried worked. Fortunately, the initial small strip I installed provides more than enough light.

potential fire hazard for some applications but bright
These are very bright lights that can be cut to shorten or take around a corner using the included extenders. The motion sensor also worked well. Definitely need to keep the instructions because understanding how to set the different settings was not intuitive. It uses light patterns on the controller to indicate what mode it is in. If you don't know what light pattern goes with which mode you will get frustrated quickly. I ultimately decided I couldn't use these despite how nice and bright they are because of how hot the strip gets. I was worried about fire safety. I've read this is common for these types of lights but I was still concerned. The cord was also too short for where I needed them to go. The controller is positioned midway between the plug end and the strip which essentially made the cord too short for where I wanted the controller and motion sensor to be. It would have been better to have a wireless remote and have the motion sensor on the led strip rather than on the controller. It seemed like a good product that worked well but just didn't fit my scenario. I wouldn't hesitate to get these if I needed under cabinet lighting. It already comes with an adhesive backing and is ready to install. That's probably the best use case.
