The Fluval filter pads are high-quality and effective at maintaining clean and clear aquarium water. They fit perfectly into Fluval filters and provide excellent mechanical, chemical, and biological filtration. The pads are easy to replace and help remove debris and impurities quickly, ensuring a healthy environment for your fish. Overall, they are a reliable and essential part of keeping your tank in top condition.

Turtles are messy critters, especially if you feed them a varied diet with some plants. Differently, give a turtle a live feeder fish, and it's gone in seconds without a trace. However, turtles need plants in order to be healthy, despite the mess. Roughly, half of the plant they will eat, and the other half they will rip to shreds! This makes it such that turtles need a foam filter to catch the larger particles, which in this case are stirred up by the Fluval U3 water jet for easier collection via the Fluval U3 holster. Without Filter Foam Pads and a Fluval Underwater Filter, it is difficult to be vigilant to get waste particles siphoned. It is such that in my experience more waste particles will settle bottom of a tank without Fluval Underwater filtration.What is great about these pads is that they can be washed and reused many many times. They don't need replacing every time, just cleaning. I rinse them until they come clean when I siphon/clean the tank.

You should mostly rinse them out in removed TANK water to clean them but eventually you have to give in a replace them. I'd not recommend the huge multipack since you do NOT want to replace them often. You will remove too much beneficial bacteria if you replace them too often but always keep a new one around. The bacteria do not live in just the biomax but in this filter too, the water, etc.

This system worked the very best for our yellow belly turtle in a 50gal tank. We went from a "standard" fish filter that simply would not keep the tank clean to using the Fluval system. The tank would stay clean and we went to 3 months between thorough cleanings.

This review is for the foam pad component to the Fluval U3 reptile filter. We have had an aquatic turtle for aost 21 years. We have tried other filters and were quite happy with them. When they went out of business, we decided to try Fluval U3; we are beyond delighted with this system. The water is always clear, no algae, no smell, and it is quiet. Great price for name brand filter replacements. I couldn't find these replacement filters locally. I'll be purchasing these again!!
