Overall very good headphones
Very good pair of headphones in this price point. Probably the best closed back at this price in relation to the competition.Build:These things are built like an absolute tank the aluminium and carbon fibre looks very striking and is very durable. I've been treating them roughly for months and they've held up exceptionally well. They should last for years to come. Shure have not skipped a beat on the build quality here.Comfort:The comfort is very good, although this will vary based on your anatomy. I found them very comfortable but others who have tried it on said the clamping force is a bit much. The alcantara pads are best in class for comfort, and they even threw in a spare which is a very nice touch at this price. My ears do get a bit hot and sweaty after several hours of use although this expected as is a product of the closed back design.Accessories:The contents come inside a hard shell carrying case which is very nice and has compartments for this pair earpads and pouches for the cables. It is very sturdy although definitely far too large to be carrying in a bag it's not really a carry case as much as transport caseIn addition to the spare pads, aspare cable is included. The extra cable is also much appreciated as one of them started cutting out after a couple months. The cables themselves are long and thick, it would have been nice if the spare was a 1.2m cord. Nevertheless the accessories and spares are very much appreciated and often not seen from audio products.Usability: Contrary to what many say you can intact wear these outside. They are big but very light for the size, comfortable and in my option stylish. I wore them to my commute on the way to work everyday. They are strong enough to withstand regular punishment during travel. These headphones isolated very well and do a great job on blocking out outside noise this is great for busy environments or doing commutes where you want to achieve maximum possible detail retrieval and resolution. They do however a leak quite a lot so this is something that you should consider. At its worst the leaking is similar to a semi open back or open back headphone. Now for the important part:SOUND:These headphones do very well on technicalities. The soundstage is exceptional for a closed back. The detail, seperation and imaging are very impressive. The sound signature of thesr is definitely not neutral the bass is definitely elevated considerably as you can see from the Frequency response graph available online. Now if you are a bey said you're going to love these as they sound great with EDM pop rap or othrr bass heavy music. However I often found that the base is overpowering and detract from the other frequencies and often bleeds into the mid-range overall I do think that the base is too high and I've had to EQ it down to a more sensible level. The mid-range is also very good although a bit racist vocals did sound distance a lot of the time although overall the mid-range is fluent and articulate and very pleasing to listen to. I do wish however that they were slightly more forward. The treble is very good and very detailed without becoming too bright. It adds a very good sparkle without drawing the spotlight away from the other frequencies. Initially I had thought that the treble was a bit bright, however when I changed to a warmer DAC it turned out that the dac was the issue.I think the genres which these headphone most excel at is EDM pop hip-hop and other bass heavy genres as well as classical and instrumental music.Another thing to note is that these headphones as noted in other reviews do distort at higher volumes changing the sound significantly. This however is not a problem if you are listening at safe normal volumes. If they do distort then you are listening to them too loud and should turn it down to protect your hearing. Although initially this was a con I now perceive it as a useful warning for me not to exceed the safe volume and cause permanent damage to my hearing. These headphones also scale really well although they sounds good from any device and are sensitive enough to be played and reach a high volume from a phone and a computer they improve drastically when paired with a quality source. The sound felt vastly improved when moving from a dragonfly red to a chord mojo DAC and scales further still from a chord Hugo. There's also drastically changed the sound characteristics. Initially I was not too impressed with the sound signature however after trying this with the chord mojo I discovered that in indeed it was the synergy between these headphones and the Dragonfly red that didn't agree with me. When paired with the mojo they sounded like completely different set of headphones. I can recommend the Mojo to have great synergy with this headphone. All in all I would definitely recommend these headphones. The build quality and materials are great, the comfort and isolation is very good, and the sound quality is very good for this price.Included:-Shure SRH-1540 headphones-2x headphone cables (oxygen free copper, mmcx connector with 3.5mm termination)-Spare alcantara pads-3.5mm to 1/4 inch gold plated adaptor-Hard shell travel case-Presentation box

If you really want high end sound in privacy, look no further...
These really are blissful headphones. From the point at which you open the box, you know that you are dealing in a premium product. They come in a hard headphone case, with a spare set of ear cups and a spare cable, which all has a real robust feel. The connections are easy and the cable is heavy duty so I think the spare will stay in the box for a while. But enough talk of fluff...the sound quality is immense. My set up is with an ipad, boosted with an oppo HA2 combined amp and dac and using Tidal to stream high quality audio files. The combo is perfect! You can throw anything at them and what you get in return is an open and detailed sound, robust but not overpowering base, and an eveness that runs through all frequencies. Despite this beautifully structured and unified audio signature, you never lose the sense of the individual voices and instruments. I would say listen to this or listen to that, but actually listen to anything and everything that you want. These bad boys will deliver every time!

Brilliant set of headphones.
Ok so i would describe these as a listening headphones they have a slightly increased bass but still retain clarity and a sense of order. Every instrument is spaced and separate. They have a wide soundstage for a pair of closed headphones and the earcups are really compfy. Definitely good value concidering you get a cable and a set of ear cups spare. They dont have the extension of bass as the se846 but i would say they sound similar without a doubt. If anything these sound smoother and more rounded, more natural. All in all these are a good value set of cans that have the high quality and id expext to last as with most of shures gear.

Hear the music
These are a premium product, at a premium price. This is reflected everywhere, the (excessive) packaging is sumptuous, the build quality is fantastic (aluminium frame and carbon fibre covers). This is a pair of headphones for life, unless you want to always have the latest gear.Comfortable to wear, but not quite a perfect fit for me, I do find I adjust them quite often. They are big, but not too heavy, but you wouldn't want to wear these on a commute!Musically these are the best headphones I've tried, I find myself listening to music more though these just to enjoy the experience, instead of it being too late to have music playing through my main speakers. I'm not an audiophile - I don't talk about tight timing or expansive soundstages, but quite simply, these sound amazing. I could listen to music all day on these, they have revitalised so many albums for me.

Flimsy ear cups, easily coming off cables
Overall the quality does not justify the price of £380.The sound quality is overall good. The cables come off easily. Not secure enough in their sockets. The ear cups come off very easily and are a little difficult to put back on.Got the feeling , they would not last me long.Because of above problems , they were returned.

If you can find the money don't hesitate.
I'm delighted with the these headphones. It was a big decision for me spending £400 on such a private luxury but they are worth every penny.I'm no hi fi expert but have spent my life working with live music and sound balancing for performance. This is a satisfying, clean, clear and understated, balanced sound. I son't think you can ask for more. They're comfortable too with no perceptible sound leakage.Good sturdy lead which is a good length and looks sure to last.Oh and I love the hard, zipped storage case (I have a small dog!)And the spare (sturdy) lead and spare cushions show confidence from the maker in a long and happy future.
