Yes, the remote can be used to turn it on. Batteries for the remote were not included.

Will this run for 8 hours straight?

I left mine on by mistake and didn’t notice it was still running until two days later. It’s plugged into an outlet so it’ll keep running unless you turn it off.

Can this turn 1 degree at the time?

you can pause when the turntable turns to a certain angle, but there is no setting for 1 degree
